Kiandra my brumby

Arrived

We were finally here. I saw many horses in fields and paddocks but none really looked or acted like the ones in Darkest Night's herd. "Welcome." A man greeted as we came out of the truck. He seemed in his early to mid thirties. "You must be Anda Ivy. I'm Samuel Alwell and these are all the brumbies. Most of them have been slightly tamed. They are more well behaved then most. However, I believe you're here to see our most recent catch." He continued.
"Yes we are. This is also my daughter Lucia-Jane Ivy."
I was about to question her but kept my mouth shut and waved. "This way." He lead. We walked to stalls that were separated from the rest and also smaller. I gasped at the sight of Kiandra. She was in a stall with her mother. "These are all the horses from the catch. We are getting more in today. I will take you inside and do a run through of each horse and their herd." He said. Samuel lead my mum and I inside the house.

We sat down at what seemed like a business table. "Excuse me, may I please go to the toilet?" I asked.
"You may. It's around the corner and down the hallway, next to the laundry." Samuel directed. I took his directions but instead of going to the toilet, I went through the door from the laundry which lead me to the side of the house. I looked to see if anyone was around then ran straight for Kiandra's stall. She ran as close as she could to me while her mum stayed back. "I'm going to get you back. You and your herd. I promise." I whispered to her. I suddenly heard trucks and trailers then noticed some coming down the drive way with brumbies in the horse trailers. I hid between some separated stalls. When it was clear I ran back to the house. I got back to the table where mum and Samuel were but the weren't there. Slowly and quietly, I walked to the front door to see mum standing there and Samuel was outside, directing the trucks that were coming in.

I saw a map on a desk in the front room of the house. When I looked at it, I noticed a small trail back to the Kosciusko national park. If I was able to get the brumbies on this track, I could lead them home. "Skye!" Mum called. She was meant to call me Lucia-Jane.

 "Yes mum!" I replied. I ran through the house and saw the reason mum had called me. Darkest Night had been caught. I couldn't believe it. He was the hardest brumby to catch. To see him fighting with so many men was shocking. He was being held down, not allowed to run or kick. Someone let go and Darkest Night broke free but instead of leaving, he headed straight towards the stalls with his herd. It was amazing. I went to the laundry and went out the back door. I ran towards the stalls but Darkest Night had noticed me but he didn't seem bothered. I slowly walked towards Kiandra. It was funny that she was able to see me through the make up and I think all the brumbies could. Darkest Night looked at me as if to say "It's fine to go near us." I smiled and opened the door to Kiandra's stall. I thought all the men were trying to get more brumbies out of the trailers but I noticed that they were watching me in amazement.
