I woke up and heard weird noises outside my tent. It sounded like a horse but I thought that was very odd. It couldn't have been a wild horse. I stuck my head out and saw a chestnut horse but it had a rider. He looked like he was in his mid fifties and was wearing a black, leather hat. I cleared my throat. "Good morning sir." I greeted.
"Good morning, young lady. I would like to ask what you are doing." He replied. I was shocked. I didn't know what to say to him. "I'm, um, I'm camping." I answered.
"Are all these tents with you?" He asked, pointing at the other tents. I nodded. "I'm part of a brumby catching group and today we're out catching. I would advise you to leave because this can get very dangerous." He suggested. "I'm sorry. Why are you catching them?" I questioned.
"These are pests and menaces to the environment." He answered. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "You're the pest! Taking these animals. They have lived here for years and haven't been causing problems. It's what you say, the pressure that people like you put on these animals. You're the reason they are pests!" I shouted. Hailey poked her head out of her tent. "Skye, who are you yell- oh." She said tiredly.
"Hailey, pack up your stuff. It seems we'll need to get moving early." I told her, looking at the man.
"You could help us. Tell us, have you seen any horses? You do seemed to be fascinated by their territory otherwise you wouldn't be camping here. What do you know?" He questioned. I looked at him with a deep frown of disgust on my face. "I'd rather die than tell you a thing." I said. He left on his horse when he noticed I wasn't going to tell him anything. I woke the boys up and we began packing. We made porridge for breakfast then left.
