Chapter 17
•Niall•I woke up feeling like I had a hangover. I knew there was no way I had one, though. I haven't had alcohol in days. My head was pounding, my eyes were red and puffy, and my mouth was dry. Harry looked almost as bad as I felt.
"You okay, Haz?" I croaked to the Cheshire boy. He shook his head.
"Do I look okay?"
"I'm so sorry, Harry," I said sincerely. He looked up at me.
"Why? Because Louis says he's looking for a girl?" I nodded. "I'm sorry for you. Liam is the one with a girlfriend."
"We are really screwed," I groaned, running a hand through my hair. "I'm going to the bathroom."
"Don't think about it, Ni!" Harry called from behind me.
"Yeah, yeah," I mumbled. I locked the door behind me, trying to ignore Harry's shouts. I sat on the toilet, putting my head in my hands. "I thought I was a good person. What did I do to deserve this?" I whispered to myself.
I looked around, ruffling through the drawers to find Harry's razor. "Where is it?" I hissed to myself.
"Niall!" Harry banged on the door.
"Relax, Haz. I'm just gonna take a shower," I turned the water on in the shower to reassure him.
"Good. Just... please don't, Niall," I pulled my clothes off and sat in the shower, pulling the curtain around me. Two cuts for Liam. Two for Harry and his pain. Two for Louis. The water was stained red by the time I was done. I made sure that the bleeding had stopped before I put my clothes back on and met Harry in the kitchen.
"What if we go out for breakfast?" I offered, feeling slightly better. "I'll pay."
"Free food? I'm in!" Harry's exclaimed, laughing.
"God, Harry. You sound like me," I chuckled. "Put some clothes on and let's go," I slid on my shoes and went to look for the keys to Harry's car, hoping they were in the same place as always.
"Ready!" He called out, jogging into the kitchen. "Sure you can drive, Ni?" He asked me.
"I can," I nodded. "Doesn't mean I want to, but I can," I chuckle. "Go get in the car." We both exited the house, and I jogged around to open the door for Harry.
"Aren't you being a gentleman today?" He joked.
"Get in the car," I grumbled, almost slamming the door on his foot.
"Oi!" I heard him yelp. I laughed.
The ride to the diner was fairly quiet. I'm pretty sure both of us were trying to keep out minds off certain people.
"Can I take your order?" The waitress grumbled. You could tell she was tired; she had bags under her eyes and looked utterly exhausted.
"Ham and cheese omelette, bacon, sausage, and hold the attitude," I told her. "And coffee to drink."
"I'll have the same," Harry said. The waitress winked at Harry.
"I'll be back in a bit then," she said, glancing over at me with a look of disgust. I stuck my tongue out at her, like the mature 18 year old I am.
"Lose the attitude!" I called after her, making her huff. "She is so not getting a tip," I grumbled. Harry laughed.
"That was priceless, mate. She doesn't seem to like you very much."
"Few people do," I shrugged, looking at my napkin.
"Hey... I didn't mean it like that," he says softly.
"I know what you meant, Haz," I shoot him a smile, then go back to picking at my napkin. Harry and I sit in silence till our food arrives.
"So," Harry cleaned his throat, "what do you want to do today?"
"Anything would be good. Anything would be perfect," I told him, shoving some more food in my mouth.
"What about the mall? Or a movie?"
"What about both?" I chuckle.
"Perfect. Let's finish, and we can go to the mall," Harry told me, shoving some food in his own mouth.
"God, Harold, you eat like a teenage boy!" I squealed in a high-pitched voice. Harry glared at me.
"Shut it, leprechaun."
Maybe it wouldn't be so hard to get my mind off of... him... after all.
