Chapter 19

•Niall•

Waking up to Harry screaming in my ear is not an ideal way to wake up. I still don't know how he got in. "Niall! School! Nialler! Helloooo!" He was screaming.

"What?" I had finally yelled in his face. He gave me a hurt look.

"We've got school in half an hour. Just thought I might wake you up," He grumbled. "And if you don't want the breakfast I made, I understand."

I practically sprinted to the kitchen. Eggs, bacon, and toast lay on a plate that Harry had fixed for me. Somewhere between stuffing my face, I said a quick, "Thanks, Harry!" Then continued eating.

Once I was done with that, I took one of the fastest showers known to mankind. Harry had my clothes laying out on my bed when I ran out of the bathroom. "Thanks, Harry!" I yelled again. He seems to be on a roll this morning.

When I got done brushing my teeth and fixing my hopeless hair, Harry was waiting for me with my school bag in his car. "You're on a roll this morning, it seems," I told him. Harry just shrugged.

"I wanted I help you. We've still got fifteen minutes till school starts, though, so we better hurry and get there," Harry began to back out of my driveway, much to my distaste. I didn't say anything, though, knowing how much he liked being at school early.

The whispers started as soon as I walked through the doors. I had made Harry go on, not wanting to hold him back. "Aye, fag!" I heard Sean yell. I saw him and his buddies walking towards me. I rolled my eyes and stood my ground.

"What do you want, Sean?" I said through gritted teeth. No, Niall, you will never stoop as low as calling him names. Then you would be just like him. Like a bully.

"Just to see my favourite gay boy!" He grinned evilly, gripping my hair. I bit my tongue to keep from crying out. I'm so glad I made Harry leave.

"Let me go, Sean," I said, fighting to keep my voice even. I would not show how much this pained me.

"But what if I don't?" He asked innocently.

"I said let me go!" I yelled, throwing at kick at his stomach. Sean let go of my hair to bend over in surprise, gripping his stomach. I took of running down the hall and out the doors.

"You'll regret this, fatty!" Sean yelled behind me.

I doubt I will.

I sat under a tree in the courtyard, trying to catch my breath. First period had already started, so I didn't find it necessary to worry about Sean or any of his buddies. Even bullies went to class.

My mind was drifting from everything and nothing. Would Harry be disappointed in me? I never hit them back. I swore I would never hit them back. Because that would make me a bully, exactly like them.

"Hey, Ni," I looked up to see Harry standing over me.

"Oh, hey, Haz," I gestured for him to sit beside me. "Is first over already?"

"It's been over for a bit. I figured I'd come out here with you, though."

"How did you find me?" I asked.

"I could see you from the window," He pointed over to one of the many windows that lined our school. "I heard people talking again. I could never find a story that sounded plausible, so I decided to ask you. What happened?"

"I kicked Sean," I muttered, fiddling with my fingers. "He was just getting on my nerves, and I'd had enough so I hit him. Are you angry with me?"

"Angry?" Harry looked taken aback. "Why would I be angry? If anything, I'm proud! You finally stood up for yourself, Niall. That's great."

"Good," I breathed a sigh of relief.

"You wanna go back to class?"

"Yeah," I agreed with Harry. "Let's go back to class."
