"Water. Find Water." Finley said. Pacing back and fourth across the small, dark, underground room, under the death cage I was about to be released into. He stopped remembering something, something very important it looked like. He pointed at me. "In mentor training, they told us everything about the Cornacoupia. There are weapons, there are survival packs. But, deep deep in the Cornicoupia, there is a crate. The crate is full of food, water and something at the bottom that is always a surprise. Get that crate and you are set."
"But, I need an axe. That's my weapon of choice."
"Get the axe, but get the crate." He said sternly, looking me straight in the eye. "If you get the crate, you make it home."
"1 minute remains." A voice boomed over the speaker, making my heart beat.
"Alright." He said sighing. He held out a closed fist and opened it. What was inside his fist, caught my gaze. A beautiful shining star. That seemed to light up the room. He took the star out of his palm and fastened it onto my chest. He patted my jacket and stepped out of the room, putting a finger to his lips and placing it on my forehead.
"5, 4, 3, 2, 1"
He walked towards the door and waved at me.
A final goodbye.
"Please step into the capsule." The voice again, booming over the invsible speakers.
I turned around looking at the capsule. I placed one foot inside, almost half expecting it to blow me to peices. I placed another foot in and the doors closed and lifted me up safely to another room, that looked like the inside of one of the toture chambers they used at the neighborhood jail.
One of the Avoxes motined me to one of the seats nearby. I sat down and bars raised over me and clamped down in front of my lap.
I was strapped in. There was no going back now. No escaping.
Avoxes came around with huge syringes and began to shoot in our trackers.
As I took a final glance at the people around me. I noticed there were no weak ones.
No younger ones, they all looked about the same age as me and they all looked preettyyy tough.
The ground began to rumble and the room jolted and then rumbled some more and then stopped.
The bars lifted and the avoxes guided us into our seperate capsules.
As I stepped in, it rose and I realized I was being lifted into the arena.
When it stopped the doors opened and I got my first glimpse at the arena.
Trees.
That was the only thing I could see.
Trees.
This was good. exactly what I was hoping for. I glanced over at the Cornacoupia. I strained my eyes to see in the back and I saw the crate.
I looked down and lying in front of me was an axe.
My weapon of choice.
I smiled for probably the first time in weeks. I looked around at some of the other tributes and there weapon of choice was laying right in front of them as well.
A red object glared in the sky that cought my attention. The walls around my capsule fell as all the other tribute's capsules did.
The red object was the countdown.
"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1"
