Jackson's pov:
I was on a run through the woods, on patrol.
Then our Alpha called me, through the mind link. "Jackson. The new pack has nearly arrived get your a** over here right now"!
"Yes Alpha"...
I run back to the packhouse. Our pack has been infested with rouges lately. People blame me and Alpha. Occasionally our beta. I'm the head guard and fighter. We asked a nearby pack for help. This specific pack happens to be very high ranked at the moment. About two years ago that shot up the ranks overpowering us all.
There are rumours their trainer and head guard had been replaced. He must be a good instructor. Anyway, their pack agreed to help us by fighting off rouges, and taking over my position and training everyone. Well, their head guard and trainer will do that.
I'm keen to see if the rumours are true. If so I'm willing to learn from that guy. But there are rumours that he has special powers. They say he can fly. Must be some dark magic the dark witches castes on him. But the witches don't normally do that... It only happens to special children that are recognised as special at birth. When they are born the 3 goddess witches come that very night and cast a spell that can not be broken.
But when used right it is a blessing, not a curse. How they know who the special babies are I will never know. Well I could ask then but no one dares to ask then anything, let alone go near them! They are DARK witches that use DARK magic. Translated if it wasn't clear enough. THEY ARE EVIL. They cast hexes and spell that could kill you with one simple word. I know the word. My father told me when I was just six. I've remembered it ever since. It's a word you can never forget. If you live in a world of magic. The word is... Hexilliun.
Pronounced hex-il-e-in. I'm not sure if its just witches tongue or a different language. Either way, if you hear those words when you know a witch is near, either you or someone else is dead. It's not a quick death either.
You go weak immediately and have no strength left. You do not die until midnight 3 days later. There is a cure. Everyone knows there is. But no one but the witches knows what it is. You'll die anyway eventually. I'm starting to wonder how my father actually knew about all of this. Was he taught by a witch? Or was it rumours?
I get to the edge of the forest and change back into my human shape. I shove my clothes back on before going into the open. Shoving the packhouse door open I march down the corridor and knock on the alphas office door. He takes a second to respond.
"Enter"!
I open the door.
"Oh Jackson! It's about time. Take a seat".
I sit.
"They are nearly at the border I think.
They left the Three Princes Pass quite a long while ago now so they should be there soon. Make sure all the rooms on the second floor are clear and ready to go okay? Get the maids to get ready and instruct them to welcome the Finns pack at the door and show them their rooms, blah blah blah, you know the rest. Then I want you to change and look at least a bit presentable. Tell Alpha Finn there will be a short meeting in here at 4:30 for their trainer/ top guard second top guard, him, his father and any mates they have. Have you got all that"?
"Yes alpha".
Why do I have to do all that? I'm pretty sure that's HIS job!
Emma's pov
We are at the borderline now. We shift back into our human forms, adjust our packs and get ready to go. Finn says it's alright to go now. I slip on a beanie and do my hair, still in a braid, up in a bun and hide it underneath it. Rosa scowls at me.
"That will ruin your hair"!
"I don't want them to recognise me straight away".
I start walking back up at the front again. We march like an army. I do feel like attacking this pack... I wonder if we could change the plans? Probably too late now. I keep my head low. We reach the all so familiar packhouse. It is TINY compared to what I'm now used to. I know it's bigger on the inside than it appears, but not much.
"You used to LIVE here"?! Rosa yell whispers at me.
"Yeah. It's tiny isn't it".
"It's like a tiny cottage"!
"Now you're going a little over the top".
"Maybe a little".
I laugh quietly.
"Shhh", I say putting my finger to my lips.
As we get closer I see that maids are crowding the front door. At the front of them all stands Jackson.
I almost swell with anger, but hold it in.
I knew I would see him, looks like he's higher in the ranks now.
"Welcome to our pack. We hope you enjoy your stay here and we appreciate your kindness and sacrifice very much. The alpha is very busy at the moment and apologises for not meeting you. I am Jackson. The pack's trainer and head guard".
I hear a few gasps. The whole pack knows my story. They look at me questioningly. I nod my head to confirm their thoughts. They all scowl silently to themselves I have such a good pack.
Jackson pauses and notices the silent scowling. Everyone hushes.
"Apologies Jackson. My pack is rather fidgety today. Please continue", Finn pipes up breaking the silence.
"As I was saying. I am the trainer and head guard for this pack. The maids will show you to your rooms".
I see him grab Finn and talk to him. Among the chaos of everyone trying to find their rooms, I hear something about a meeting at 4:30. For Finn, Mark, me, Liam and another top guard.
Of course, he doesn't say our names specifically though. I follow a maid down a corridor and up some stairs. I remember I used to sneak around here. Those days I forgot long ago. This has refreshed my memory.
There aren't enough rooms for us all to have a separate room each. I don't mind. Because I'm sharing with Liam. I unpack first. I don't have much. I store the weapons in places I shan't forget around the room. Under the bed, wardrobe, bookshelf, draws etc. In case of emergencies. Liam watches me do so. Just then Finn enters my mind.
"Meeting for you and Liam, jack, Alpha Mark and me in the alphas office at 4:30. Go to the 3rd floor and its your 2nd door on the right. See you then".
I can tell Liam got the message too because he looked all distant.
"Ok". I mind link back to Finn.
"So meeting at four thirty"?
"Sounds like it", replies Timon.
"Are you worried"?
"About Timon? No. Not really. I'm gonna surprise him and then beat him up"! I reply.
"That's my girl"! He says.
We both smile at each other.
It's moments like these I love him most.
