Chapter thirty one

"So I'm guessing you're the head trainer and top guard and you're his mate".

"Uh no sir I'm head guard and trainer", I say taking off my beanie.

We were standing by the alphas office door where one guard stood. He didn't seem to recognise me. Then again I don't think he was in the pack when I was last here.

He started laughing. Yes, he laughed. My anger boiled up. Just because I'm a girl? He thinks I'm not good enough.

"You"? He says still chucking and pointing at me.

"Yes", I say slowly calmly but firmly.

The guard looks back at Liam to confirm it. Liam nodded.

"I'm her mate", he says.

"You mean to tell me. This. Girl. Is your miracle guard that got you to the top of the ranks within 6 months"?

"Yes", I say again.

"Would you like me to prove it".

"Well go ahead I can't see any harm".

"You're not going to back down before you get into something you will remember and regret for the rest of your life"?

"Em. Come on you don't need to hurt him. Just let us it", says Liam as if he was talking to a child.

"Next time", I say walking past the guard who reluctantly let us through.

Everyone else was already there.

I quickly shoved me beanie back on before anyone could recognise me.

Jackson is the only one I remember that's here. But they were searching for me, they'll all have a picture of me stuck in their heads. Okay that is a creepy thought. All eyes turn on us as we take a seat by the desk beside Finn and Mark. Turns out Jack wasn't needed.

Jackson watched us enter and sit down. His eyes look distant. I wonder if he was recognising me. But after a minute I decide I'm safe.

"Okay. Now apologies for not greeting you earlier today I was extremely busy. It's quite common at the moment I'm afraid. Now I'm Alpha Mike. Jackson who you met earlier and my son and soon Alpha to be Derrick".

"Nice to meet you", said Finn politely.

"Shall we get down to business".

"Oh yes. Yes indeed".

Jackson comes round holding a clipboard with a piece of paper with some graphs on it.

I couldn't make out the figures though.

"I'll have to get you names".

"Who's Alpha"?

Finn raised it hand.

"Me. Finn".

Any mate"?

Finn shakes his head almost sadly, but not quite.

"Okay so you must be his father. Retired Alpha".

"Yes I am. I'm Mark".

"Okay... Now you must be the top guard and trainer who has lead your pack to victory".

"I'm Liam. But no I'm not. My mate is".

"Oh! Really? A girl"?

Liam nods.

"Um okay"... He says speechless.

I manage to sneak a smirk onto my lips as I stare at the floor.

"And you are"?

I let my wolf take over. I did let her. I knew I could come back on top if I needed to. I do a harsh laugh.

"I'm surprised you didn't recognise me. You were searching for me for quite a long time you know. The names Emma. Emma Watts. But I'm better known as Raven hood". I say taking off my beanie.

Finn, Mark and Liam smiled at me. Proud of my achievement of coming out on top. I was proud too. I knew my wolf had it in her. A few gasps sound around the room. Along with stares and dropped jaws. I don't break eye contact with Jackson.

Then he did the weirdest thing. The worst thing he could possibly do to a mated female wolf. He kissed me. It was rough and wasn't nearly close to the pleasure if having Liam kiss me. I push him back and he stumbles onto the desk, sending papers flying. I grab him by the collar and hold him up against the far wall.

I tsk him.

"Now now now. Didn't your mother ever tell you never to kiss a mated wolf"?

This is your cue Liam! I hear a growl from behind me. There you go! That's PERFECT! Liam rages on about kissing his mate. Our lips only touched for a matter of three seconds. And I didn't kiss him back, but I didn't know Liam WAS actually mad at him. Now that I think about it. Of course he would be mad. But what he finally said startled me.

"I challenge you for Emma".

I knew Liam was going to win. Jackson couldn't say no because he didn't want to look weak in front of his alpha. Who could put him to omega, the lowest-ranked in the pack, in the blink of an eye.

Jackson just nods unsurely.

"Tomorrow on your training grounds. Be there at 2:00pm".

Liam stomps out of the room. Followed by Jackson after he looks over the rest of us.  I notice he holds my gaze longer than anyone else's. Stupid stupid guy. Then again. They're all stupid. Except for Liam of course. He's just stubborn.

We continue the meeting. I will start our training in 3 days time. Until then I can relax. The best part is I have to train Jackson as well.  I can punish and push him and the others as hard as I please.

Tomorrow's schedule is filled with the fight... Maybe I could go shopping that morning. With Rosa. Wait? Are there shops in this place. Oh yeah. There is. I wonder if Jimmie is still working at that shop? I'll have to see. I haven't heard from him. Or anyone. He was the only one minus Jackson who actually liked me.

We were best friends basically. He was a little dodgy. But then again. So was I. That's where I met my brother for the very first time. I remember that. I gave him money cause he was dressed poorly. It was basically fake though. He wasn't wealthy. but he didn't need cash either.

He had money. Plenty to live on. He's gone now. So it doesn't matter. I wonder who lives in his old house. I'll drop by.

I thought I'd stop by my tree too. I know it got burnt down. Maybe I could go to the sight? Maybe. Just for a little walk.  I'll be prepared for lots of stares. That is if word gets out that I'm here.

The meeting finally ended. I dash back to my room. I nearly walk in the wrong door but correct myself just in time.

"You idiot"! I half scream at Liam.

An all he does is stare angrily back. He wasn't angry at me though. Anyone could tell that.
