Chapter 11
Exhaustion made us all sleep.
When I woke up, I see Sara’s head tilt against Lucia’s shoulder. Then, I notice that my hands are on top of Sara’s little soft hands and Lucia’s are on top of mine. The scenario feels weirder than weird. I’ve never been this close to anyone, especially to girls. Actually, I never had any girl-friends.
After minutes which feel hours to me, the train stops. I hear moaning sounds from Brian’s group as they wake up. Terence stretches his strong muscular arms while yawning. He walks closer to my direction and stares at Lucia and Sara who are still sleeping.
He’s about to wake the two loveliest girls I’ve ever seen my whole, when I stop him from doing so. “Let Sara rest.”
“Any idea on how we’ll get Sara out without waking her up?” he whispers.
“Carry her.” I order.
Terence’s chink eyes open wider in surprise. I look at him seriously to convey that I am not messing with him. He scratches the back of his head and his forehead forms a little crest.
“She’s smaller than me, you can do it.” I cheer, with a little tease. Both my eyebrows are raise. “Don’t be shy, silly boy” I say, giggling softly.
“It’s not funny Keesha!” he says sheepishly though his face is turning tomato red.
No matter how I look at Terence differently, there’s still something about him that makes him the same as the other boys in my district – coyness. Especially when it comes to pretty, sophisticated, hard to reach girls like Sara.
“Are you planning to stay here forever?” asks the train operator.
I haven’t notice that all students are already out. Seriously, I need to stop making Terence the apple of my eye. It’s disturbing to see only him.
I wasn’t like this….
I shouldn’t be like…
Slowly and gently, Terence puts his arms to Sara’s back, scooping her from her seat. Her head is leaning at Terence’s chest, and her feet and left arm are swaying in the air as Terence walks. She’s sleeping peacefully, like a baby; she doesn’t even feel that we are out of the train and we are heading at the entrance of Dark Forest. Lucia is so attentive that the moment Terence scooped Sara out from our side, she woke up.
I am walking next to Terence, supporting him by protecting Sara’s head with my hands as we approach the middle of the forest where twigs are too sharp to cut one’s skin. My hands are full of wounds, even my face have scrapes. But I don’t care. All I think now is that we need to get Sara some medical attention. At first, I feel a sting on every twig that hits my hands and face but after a while, it goes numb.
We are half through the forest when I see a man figure from a distant. He moves swiftly to our direction. He’s fast movements make us all alarm. We stand by each other, cautious, fists ready to hit him if he moves closer to us. The man moves closer to the Sages in front. He looks as calm as the afternoon wind. His body is bigger than Terence; it’s more built and developed. I think he’s even taller than my brother, James. He stands still, not talking. I can’t see anything wrong with him. He’s a perfect creation – handsome and strong. His eyebrows are tweezed into perfect shape, he has ocean blue eyes, and his nose is not as long as my brother’s but not as small as mine either. To complete his perfectness, he has nude lips which make him even manlier and his hair is wood brown with strikes of blonde. His posture makes him incredibly attractive. If I have ten gold bars in my pocket right now, I will bet all bars that he is something superior to the school and to his district
