Chapter 24
The syringe is slowly going inside my skin, I feel a slight sting on it, but I don’t bother. The pain I am feeling with Terence is more painful than this syringe. Another injection, but now he inserts it on my neck. Every half hour he injects different chemicals in my body. There are small holes in my skin, half of my body is numb, but I don’t complain. This is for my brother. “You can go after the numbness wears off. If you feel anything unusual, tell it to me instantly, okay?” he asks.
I nod and went back to school.
School stuff is almost the same each day; lectures followed by quizzes on the following day. Studying becomes my sweet escapade to my painful heartbreak. It must be an exaggeration to describe what I feel as a heartbreak since there is nothing going between me and Terence. There wasn’t, there isn’t and there will not be anything between us ever.
“I’ve heard Terence and Steph are dating?” asks Train whom I am sure is nowhere near me minutes ago. He has the hobby of popping out like mushrooms after a thunderstorm.
“So you’ve heard.” I drop the conversation; clearly, I don’t want to talk about them. It’s killing me.
He scratches his nose irately like some kind of bug crawls on top of it. “I’m going to the school dance with Lucia.” He grins devilishly.
“She’s my brother’s girlfriend! Ask somebody else!” I hush at him since we are in the library. If James found out about this, he’ll surely kill him before he catches his last breath. “Go ask Sara!”
Train laughs hardly and punches the table in great laughter. “We can’t even have one single conversation without debating, besides your brother isn’t here and Lucia already said yes.”
The librarian looks at us with a cold warning eyes that can freeze me if I ever say another word.
“Ugh!” I scowl at him. Why can’t he see that Lucia isn’t available for flirting! “Then why are you even telling me this? I obviously don’t have a say about it.”
“She partly agrees.” He whispers as the Librarian begins to walk around the library and stopping seconds in front of us with demeaning stares. “She will go with me if you come too.” He informs.
Like a big church bell suddenly rings in my head. It’s unbelievable! How could she drag me into this after seeing how devastated I am because of Terence? She surely knows that Terence is the only guy who ever asked me into a dance, and that it wouldn’t happen again. Does she really think that I will go to that dance just to keep an eye on her and be a wallflower while everyone’s having fun?! “No!” I shout and the librarian sends us out instantly.
“Finally we’re out!” he sighs! “How could you manage to stay long in that kind of place?” he asks me with eager eyes as if he really wants to know how. “Terence will be there.” He informs.
“Yeah, with Stephanie!” I roll my eyes at him. I never thought that Argonians are as dumb as those from Unda. Terence will obviously go with his girlfriend. There’s no logical explanation that he’ll be there with me or with anybody else.
He taps my back and pushes me for a walk. “That’s the point. Show him what he’ll be losing if he continues to date Steph.” He advises.
I laugh at his suggestion. “That doesn’t sound possible. At all.” I say and laugh hardly again. Train must have hit his head pretty bad. “Have you met Stephanie?” I ask him sarcastically.
He nods looking a total fool. He clears his throat. “No offense, but Steph is the real deal.”
“None taken.” I answer immediately.
