Chapter 18
I have never been this excited my whole life, Sunday at Sapius is very normal. But now is different; this is my first Sunday at Kentron. Thankfully, Whitehorn students are not totally caged since we have Saturdays and Sundays to go out and relax.
Terence and I decided to leave early, so we can have plenty of time to wander and as always he’s earlier than me. We’re going to go to Goldenberg first, the centre of the district where the Diamond Castle and the Central Station is located. After that, we are going to the famous Portchester, a big prison jail here in Kentron. We cannot go inside, but they said that the building itself is really terrible and we really like to see it with our own eyes.
“Give me the egg, Terence.” I order him. I know we are going to places and it’s very unlikely for him to carry something like that in his pocket. He’s careless sometimes.
He looks away immediately as I stretch my hand at him, and I know that kind of look; he’s done something I don’t like. “Where is it?” I demand for answer as we hop into the train going to the Central Station. My heart begins to raise as he gives me an avoidance look, “I… um.. I gave it Belle” he whispers, almost audible and grins like a child.
I tap my forehead hard enough to make a sound that disturbs the other passengers in the train. I try not to make a scene in front of everybody, but the thought of Belle having the egg doesn’t make me feel easy at all. “Have you lost your mind, Terence?!” I shout at him. “That girl can’t even hurt a fly! And you still give that to her! I can’t believe you!” I shout louder, now I don’t care if they stare at me like I’m a lunatic or what.
“Well, can you hurt a fly? They’re small and very fast.” He laughs.
I roll my eyes at him. “That was a figure of speech, Genius!”
“Well, that was joke, Brainiac.” He smiles. I begin to stomp my feet so hard that I sense the passengers’ uncomfortable feeling towards me.
“Our grades are at risk here!” I shout even more and frown at him. My grades matter most than anything now. It’s my family’s future ticket back to comfortable life.
“Can we discuss this later? People are starting at us meanly. And just so you know, this is a strategy we’ve come up.” He informs.
“We?” I ask.
“Lucia and I thought that the others will definitely think that the egg will be protected by me or you and they’ll think that we will not entrust this task to her or Belle. So we’ve decided that the least person they’ll think to have it will be the one who will protect the eggs for two days.” He explains.
My hearts feels a little prickle as he explains the strategy. They haven’t informed me about it earlier, and I think they have no intention on telling me this. “When did you plan this?” I ask softly and disappointed.
He suddenly looks me with guilt. “Yesterday at the library.” He answers. “I’m planning to tell you this bu -.”
“But you didn’t.” I interrupt him. That’s right, he didn’t. It’s the first time he planned something without my help. This is supposed to be a group activity, but why is that I don’t feel like I belong? I know I am hard to deal with sometimes.
No.
Most of the time
But that doesn’t make it right, to exclude me in planning things. I can’t believe that Terence just ignored me as part of the group.
“But you were too busy waiting all night for your guy at the lobby. That’s why I didn’t tell you last night.” He says in a whisper.
