Chapter 19.

Diana

Cole Steele?

Nothing makes sense to me. I feel fucking empty. No, what even is empty? I don't even know what I'm feeling. 

"Cole Everborn, is my name." Cole stated confidently. Almost challenging Caine to argue back.

"Fine, whatever you say." Caine replied, knowing that Cole was trying to push his buttons. 

Caine stormed out of the penthouse, and made his way in to the elevator.

"Caine's just a bit on edge with David and Dave. Nothing to fret about. I'm sorry you had to see this side of him before the caring, nurturing one." I said and gave Cole a small smile.

"Diana, my sweet, silly sister. A male mate is only ever caring and nurturing to his own mate. This applies to Alpha's more so then normal male wolves. After all the alpha can't risk being seen as weak by anyone. You worry to much Diana." He chuckled and pulled me into a bear hug.

"I suppose so." I trailed off, gently pulling away. "Anyway, let's give you a tour of the pack." I added and dragged Cole with me into the elevator.

"-And this is the game room." I finished. "What do you think?" I asked making my way to the kitchen with Cole walking beside me.

"It's.. huge." Was all Cole said.

'That's what she said.' Arabella said.

'You dirty little wolf.' I remarked. 

"Hungry?" I asked.

"Very!" Cole sat himself on one of the stools at the island bench.

"How does mac and cheese sound?" I smirked knowing it was his absolute favourite.

"You remember mum's recipe for it?" He asked hopeful.

"Never would I dare forget it." 

........... 

Cole and I sat on the stools at the island bench, just catching up on things. He still hasn't found his mate, and is beginning to lose hope. Although I know that the moon goddess has the perfect mate for my dear brother. The moon goddess is just still in the process of writing his and her love story. 

"Ahem." I heard someone clear there throat from behind us. 

Cole and I both simultaneously turned around.

"Ready to get down to business?" Caine asked.

"Yeah, let me just do the dishes and we can head to your office." I spoke getting up and picking up the plates, before Caine stopped me.

"Leave them. I'll get someone to clean them up." He spoke walking away.

However that wasn't stopping me, I quickly rinsed the dishes and placed them into the dish washer. Cole patiently awaited my arrival in the lounge. 

"Mum and dad would be proud of the women you've become Diana." He said kissing my temple.

"And they would've been extremely proud at the man you've become. Especially knowing that you stuck by me, when David and Dave disowned me as family." I replied smiling.

Cole sadly smiled at me. I don't want a pity smile tough. Of course I didn't say that, I merely thought it. "Come on." He said and led us to Caine's office.

I knocked on the door before I heard a come in. Cole and entered.

"I told you not to do the dishes." He stated not once looking up at me, or Cole.

Why is he being so blunt.

"You'll live." I spoke back, challenging the challenger. If he was going to be blunt and act like an ass in from of my brother, then I will to.

"I'm going to pretend like you didn't disrespect me." Caine stated finally looking at me dead in the eye. He dropped his pen on the table and stood up, walking towards me.

However I maintained my ground and didn't move back. He was towering over me, I could feel his warm, and minty breathe on my temple. 

"Damn the sexual tension between you too is... Sexual!" Cole exclaimed plopping himself on the couch.

Caine and I pulled away. Caine's chest vibrated as a growl came out of his mouth. "Stay out of this." He said pointing his finger accusingly at Cole.

"Hey, don't talk to my brother like that. If it wasn't for him we'd have no proof to show anyone." I defended.

"No Diana! If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place." He spat angrily. 

Wow, damn. I felt tears prickle my eyes, and I could see the regret and guilt in Caine's eyes. "Is that really how you feel Caine?" I asked as a single tear leaked.

"No Diana, I can't even believe I said that. I don't mean it, the frustration and stress is getting to me. It was wrong of me to take it out on you. I-I I'm sorry." He stuttered reaching out to embrace me. But this time I stepped back.

"It's fine. Whatever. Just watch the tape and get this over with. Or dont. Just say, and I'll leave your pack." I said, not even caring what anyone thought of me. Either way I knew I was going to continue getting hurt by those who claimed they loved me. 

"No it's not fine." Caine said punching the wall next to him. I didn't flinch, I watched his bright orbs turn dark. His wolf was showing. "Why would you event think that I'd hurt you because I apparently claim to love you. I made a damn mistake Diana, haven't you ever made one?!" 

And again.

"Fuck. I didn't mean it in that context. I meant little mistakes." 

Again.

"So everything you just said to me is a 'little mistake'? Hurting my feelings is a 'little mistake' is it?" I spoke angrily.

"I'll just exit and let you to, work this out. Call me once you're both... Satisfied." Cole spoke exiting the office.

"I should leave too." I said walking towards the door.

"Stay." I heard Caine's voice crack. He fell to the ground and tears spilled out of his eyes.

He looked so vulnerable and broken. Just like me.

"You wanted to know about my past right?" He asked.

I nodded my head, unable to form words. I kneeled in front of him and pulled him into me. His head rested between the crane of my neck and shoulder. 

I rubbed his back as I left tears hitting the now damp cotton material on my shoulder.

"I'm so sorry Diana. I'm sorry you got stuck with me." He whispered almost to quite to hear.

"I'm not stuck Caine. I'm still here because I love you." I replied completely honesty

I can not stand you sometimes Caine Anthony Steele. But you are no doubt the best thing that ever happened to me.

I am forever grateful.
