A Surprising Break

Everything was set up. I was to distract Draco from going to the common room, because Pansy was to find the chocolates at any moment. They were in her room on her bed side table. I should know, I put them there. I ran to find Draco, and ask him on a walk. I found him in record timing with Blaze, Crabbe and Goyle I slowed down and acted as though I had been walking for a little while. I placed my hands behind my back, closed my eyes, and hummed a song while I smiled. Though I could still see because my eyes weren't fully closed. I looked away from the group on purpose to see how long it would take Draco to notice my shiny blonde hair with emerald green highlights. Of course it didn't take him long.

"Enny!" Draco exclaimed, causing me to turn around and smile. He walked over and scooped me up into a hug. "You've finished studying, I assume?" Draco asked. I pushed away and he pouted.

"The rules, remember?" I asked.  Draco nodded sadly.

"Unfortunately I do. So back to my question." He replied. I nodded.

"What gave it away?" I asked.

"No bag or books, no stressful look on your face like most of us would have, genuinely happy, need I go on?" Draco asked. I shook my head.

"You've made your point. I actually was just looking for you." I announced.

"And whys that?" Draco asked, soon being accompanied by Blaze, Goyle, and Crabbe.

"I wanted to go on a peaceful walk... With you... Alone." I announced, subtly hinting it to him. Draco smirked.

"Is that so? Well then. Who am I to keep you waiting? I'll talk to you boys later." Draco announced. Then he walked off with me. We got all the way to the Black Lake when Draco started asking questions. "So. What O.W.L.S were you studying for?" Draco asked.

"Transfiguration. I don't have to take the O.W.L.S. For DADA because I already took that curriculum last year." I replied. Draco nodded.

"Do you think you'll pass?" Draco asked.

"I expect nothing less." I replied. He nodded again. It was silent for a little while.

"Do you miss me?" Draco asked suddenly.

"Immensely. I wish you didn't join Umbridge's little possy. At least then I'd be able to see you, and wouldn't have to worry about bumping into Pansy. I swear she's around every corner." I announced. Draco looked down to the ground, ashamed.

"I'm sorry, Enny. I hate what she's done to you. But I have a duty to Umbridge and you know that." Draco replied. I stopped in my tracks.

"So you're saying your duty to Umbridge is more important to you then our relationship?" I asked. Draco shook his head.

"No. No. Of course not. Enny you mean more to me then anything-"

"Prove it to me. Quit Umbridges little grouping." I announced. Draco was taken a back.

"Why? What's wrong with my role?" Draco asked, suddenly offended.

"I never see you, I get punished for no reason, I stay up late at night waiting for you to return from your post only to find that you're to tired to do anything. I don't think I can do this much longer." I explained, feeling a pricking sensation in the back of my eyes. Draco became angry.

"Fine. If you don't like how things are, then break up with me." Draco stated sternly. I gasped.

"No. I can't do that. I don't have the heart. You know that." I announced. Draco fumed.

"So be it. Have fun being single, Corrine." Draco replied, storming off. I dropped down on my knees, shocked at what just happened. I began to cry. Draco Malfoy just broke up with me. I was stupid enough to believe that I could love again and that someone else could love me back. I stood up and ran to my room, not even amused that Pansy now had a mussel and was barking like crazy. I stayed there and didn't bother coming out for dinner.
