When It Started

CHAPTER 40

DANE'S POV

"This way." I say as I led them through the forest. "Dane where are we?" Mori asked. "We're almost there trust me just a few more hours" I told them. "Can we please take a break?" Maia asked. "My feet are killing me." She said. "Ok lets rest for a while." I told them.

We stopped as I placed my bag down beside a tree and sat down and rested my back on the trunk. Maia brings out the pack of cookies we made. "Cookie?" She offered to me. "Thanks." I said as I grabbed one.

"Dane." Someone called my attention and faced Zayn who was wiping his dagger. "Yeah?" I asked him while taking a bite of my cookie. He looked at the boys and the boys nodded at his direction. "Can you come with me??" He asked me.

I looked at the girls and saw Maia playing with Harry's hair while his was laying on her lap. "Yeah sure." I said and he grabbed my hand and pulled me up. He led me a few trees away from the group until we were out or hearing distance.

"Listen Dane..." He said and I looked at him."Yeah?" I asked him. He sighed and took a deep breath "This might be all off a sudden but... I miss you and I want to be with you again." He says. I stayed silent staring at him.

"And now Im asking you... Will you be mine again?" He asks me. My mind was so confused. It was like I want him back but am I ready. But then I thought I need to keep my mind of Luke somehow.

I looked at him looking at me waiting for an answer. I nodded. "Is that a yes?" He asks me. I smirked and pulled his shirt and kissed him right there and then.

I pulled away to see a dazed looking Zayn. He never fails to amuse me somehow. "Lets go back hm?" I asked him and grabbed his hand as I led him back to the group.

Louis looked at us with a look on his face. "You guys did it or something?" He asked us. "Oh shut up. You're the one who has a kid Louis." I snapped at him. And he pouted. "Just joking." I told him and hugged him. "Hmph. No." He said and I stood up and ruffled his hair.

Suddenly we heard noises not to far out. "Lets get moving." I told them. Zayn grabbed my hand as we led the group to the DZ. "Guys get down." Harry said when he heard people approaching.

I tripped and my knife went under the bush. I grabbed it but instantly freaked out when I felt another hand grab mine. I stood up and came face to face with none other than Luke Hemmings.

"Dane?" He asked me. "Luke." I said with no emotion. Suddenly Sam came running to me and she tackled me on to the ground. "Dane! Dane! God I miss you so much! Why did you leave I kept crying for hours!" Psalm said as she hugged me tighter.

"And Michael comforted her for hours and hours but now its all ov- ompff" Calum tries to say until Michael nudged his stomach. "Shut up Cal." Michael says as he turns red as his hair.

Sam giggles as he walks back to Michael hugging him. "Thank you. For being there for me." She whispers to Michael as he wrapped his arms around her and Sam buried her head on his neck. "I love you." Michael whispers to her. "I love you too." She says. we started to aww thats when they realize that they were in the middle of the apocalypse.

Meanwhile Luke stared at me as if he's seen a ghost. "Why are you staring at me like that??" I ask him. "You're alive." He says. "No Luke Im a ghost." I said sarcastically. "And Im the one surprised cause yo-" Sam cuts me off because she wants to avoid causing a scene in the middle of and apocalypse??

"So Dane care to introduce us?" She gestures to the guys. "Well... Im pretty sure you guys know 1D but this is Maia, Mori and Cam." She said. Alex cam out of the bushes behind them with Chandler trailing behind her.

"Nice to meet yo- Wait" Alex said as she walks closer to Maia. "You're that girl from the picture." Alex said. Suddenly everyone looked at her as if she was crazy. "I am?" Maia asks. "Yeah I have your bow and arrows at DZ." She said and suddenly Maia smiled so big.

"Wait before we leave... Dane are you and Zayn t-" Sam was cut off my Zayn. "Together again? Yes." Zayn said protectively wrapping an arm around Dane scared that Luke might take her away from him. Dane looked at Luke's eyes and saw a hint of sadness and jealousy.

"Congratulations! Lets celebrate at DZ!" Alex said as she started jumping around.
"Lets go to DZ then!" Maia said. "This way guys." Ashton let them to the vehicles.
