"josh." maya's voice squeaked.

it was the first time that josh heard maya's voice.

it was melodic but broken and it hurt to hear it like that.

"maya are you okay?" josh asked.

the sound of josh's voice made maya laugh a little. it wasn't how she imagined it to be. his voice was deep and husky.

"maya hart, are you laughing at me?" josh asked in a teasing voice.

"no." but maya was laughing by now and josh was smiling at his phone.

"so, how are you?" maya asked.

if maya could see through phones, she would she the confusion of josh's face.

"how am i? how are you? you were upset a few minutes ago."

maya frowned at that, maybe he would understand her pain. but no one understands the pain of a broken girl.

"im fine." lies

"maya i've known you for about a month and i know you're lying to me. tell me what's wrong, i'm broken too."

maya sadly giggled, "broken boy meets broken girl."

"maya."

"it's just bradley was the one that left me and now he's the one telling me how he wants to get back together. i-i don't know because when we broke up he said some pretty harsh things to me."

maya was sobbing at this point and all josh wanted to do was hug her.

"maya listen to me, what ever he said is not true. if anything happens i will drive my seventeen year old ass down to greenwich village and give you a big hug,"

maya smiled knowing that josh can't see her.

"because broken people stay together."
