Chapter 9: Training and Job Hunting
~★~
Lucy's POV
I jolted up, breathing heavily and deeply. That dream i just had, i can't help but feel that it has some sort of connection with my powers that seems to be out of control. But how though?
I helped myself off the bed before washing up. I brushed my teeth and washed my face. As fresh cold water tickled my face, i can't help but recall the dream. Was it even just a dream? Or was it something more? Like a distant memory. A sign perhaps? Or a clue? Whatever it is, i need to get to the bottom of it. I hate being clueless and having my time wasted because of some puzzle i can't solve. I need to move fast before time runs out..

"You need to move fast, Lady Lucy. Relax your tense muscles and coordinate your body. Use your agility to your advantage. Be flexible." Capricorn instructed me while blocking my kick. I was already panting then but i gave it no attention. Still, i kept all his words to mind and tried to apply it on my next move. I launched another full house kick only to be blocked by his forearms again. This time, i didn't withdraw. Instead, i used his forearm to support myself for another kick i aimed for his gut. He didn't saw it coming, he slightly groaned and lost composure for a few seconds. I took the opportunity to give him a celestial powered punch, a move i just learned. It is to concentrate some of my Celestial magic to one point of my body when attacking. It will add pressure and force to my attack, making it more effective. My attack, however was blocked by his bare hands.
"That is impressive. I have to admit, you caught me off guard with that kick. But remember, move faster and never hesitate." My goat spirit said as he let go of my hand. I slumped on the ground, out of breath.
"Thanks a-alot, Capricorn." I mumbled, trying to catch my breath.
"No worries, Lady Lucy. But i think you need to rest. We have been training for 3 hours now, non stop. It won't be good if you exhaust yourself too much" I can only master a nod to him. Taking that as a signal, he bid me goodbye before disappearing.
It's already 1 pm, been hours since i started my official training. I would be lying if i said it's easy, cause hell it isn't! For the first hour, i focused on meditating. Second, on exercises to increase my stamina. And lastly, combat training. I had help from Capricorn since he also trained my mom way back.
With a groaned, i dusted my denim shorts that was matched with a loose t-shirt and converse. My stomach grumbling in the process which made me remember that i still haven't eaten lunch yet. Thankfully, the clearing i used as training ground wasn't that far away from town. Only about 5 minutes of walk was needed.
Humming happily, i started walking to the direction leading outside of the forest. Didn't took me long to reach town, though. With a hungry stomach, i searched the place for any cheap restaurant. And just to my luck, i found one. As i ate, i tried to recall the real reason on why i chose to stay here, in this very town. But unfortunately, even i don't have any ideas. It may sound stupid, but i feel contented and peaceful here. This place feels so serene, so heaven-like.
After eating, i paid for the bill before leaving the restaurant. It was already 2 pm by then, too late to start training again. And besides, i already feel tired and exhausted. But it's still early to retire for the day. The sun's still up high and there are so much things left to do if i want to stay here for good. I still need to look for a job and a small apartment.
After debating with myself, i finally decided to do the things i needed to do. No time to be lazy. I have no one to rely on money now. No Natsu and Happy to help me with missions. No Team Natsu to help me earn money. No Levy-chan, Mira and Erza to help me with my problems. I'm alone now. Only choice i have is to rely and help myself.
I roamed the eastern part of town, deciding on looking for a job first. But it seems like luck is not on my side. Even though shops of all sort were lined up at each corner, not one seems to be hiring new workers. I searched and entered each shop but to no avail. Boutiques, cafes, bookshops, and even magic shops! But no luck. Seems like working on a shop is a big no.
I sighed dramatically as i wiped off beads of sweat that were forming on my forehead. With slumped shoulders, i decided to return back to the hotel i'm currently staying at. It was located at the western part of town which was quite far from here. The walk back was boring but thoughtful. I managed to re-collect my thoughts and plans. I decided to stay in this town for two more days. If i fail to find a decent job and apartment, i'll have to move to another city. Or perhaps i'll focus on looking for my brothers and cousins.
While walking, a building caught my eye. It was a four-storey building made of red and white bricks. It wasn't the design nor infrastructure that caught my interest though, but the sign displayed on the very front. Printed in bold, elegant letters were the words 'Shining Stars Publishing Company'.
Could it be?
