The sun is peaking in through the window, shining right into my eyes. I wake up to find Peeta still sleeping next to me. I still expect to wake up alone, like I did after the first night he stayed with me. I guess it will just take time to adjust. Though, I should already be adjusted because we've been sharing a bed since the victory tour. I guess it could be because I had to get used to sleeping without him during the rebellion. Despite that, I need to realize he's not going anywhere. Especially now because of what I have planned to ask him at diner tonight.
The night he returned to the Capitol I asked him to stay with me, that was three weeks ago. During these three weeks, Peeta has been going back and forth between houses. He'll sleep at my house, cook us breakfast, and then go to his house to shower and get ready for work. After a long day of helping build the new bakery, he will come back to eat dinner. We'll snuggle on the couch and recap our day for each other before heading to bed to try and get some sleep. We do pretty well getting through the night without a nightmare. Every now and then one of us has one, but the other is aways there to calm the other down.
I roll onto my side to get a better look at the boy I'm starting to fall back into love with. I've always loved Peeta and I think I always will. But I have to learn to love him as the Peeta he is now, because we are different people since the war. We've both changed and somewhere, deep down inside us, are the people we used to be.
I need to get up and get my day started, but all I want to do is snuggle up next to Peeta and listen to his heart beating inside his chest. There's something so comforting about hearing the sound it makes. As I lay my head down on his chest, he starts to stir. I look up at his face to see his eyes fluttering open.
"Good morning, sunshine," I say.
"Morning to you too," he says and then kisses the top of my head. "How long have you been up?"
"Not long," I assure him.
"You know you can wake me up, right?"
I roll onto my stomach, propping myself up on my elbows to look into his eyes better. "I know I can," I say. "I just don't like to. I love watching you seep." I touch the end of his nose with the tip of my finger. He just smiles and kisses me again, this time on the lips.
"I love waking up to your beautiful eyes in the morning," Peeta says.
I blush and lay my head back onto his chest.
"I hate to do this, especially since all I want is to lay here with you," Peeta says. "But I need to get going, we've got a busy building schedule at the bakery today."
"Do you have to go?" I whine.
"No, but I want to be there. It's something special, Katniss."
"Fine." I moan jokingly. "I guess I'll let you go."
"Well, thank you." he laughs.
I get off the bed and head to the bathroom.
"Besides, I have things I have to do today too." I say standing in the doorway, leaning against the door frame.
"Oh really?" hey asks playfully.
"Yeah, really." I laugh as I shut the door.
When I come out Peeta's gone back to his house. Greasy Sae is coming this morning. She started coming every other day for breakfast when she noticed that Peeta was staying the night with me. She still comes everyday for dinner though, because sometimes Peeta is at the construction site too late to make dinner. The only thing different for Sae at dinner, is just making sure she makes enough food for him. I head downstairs to find Sae walking in the door.
