A Jily love story

Chapter 9

Lily PoV

I don't know what had gotten into me! All through potions I couldn't keep my mind on the project! I had tried so hard to resist but I just couldn't keep my mind straight! Not with potter as my partner! I had just let myself go. I let myself touch his arms and his chest and knees. I just did what I wanted to. And he was strong! He had abs! It was so comfortable and nice being able to touch him and run my hand through his hair! I would never admit that though! I was going to try to brush aside this little incident.

Potter probably wasn't going to let that happen though. He's probably never going to let me live this down!

"Lily are you okay?" Alice asked. I looked at her realizing I had been staring off into space for a while.

We were sitting in Gryffindor common room relaxing and I was trying to figure out why I acted the way I did.

"Oh. Uh. Yeah yeah I'm fine." I said trying to tear my mind away from potter.

"You don't seem like it! You were flirting with James all day! Also you have been staring at that wall over there for about half an hour!"

"I'm just a little sick today. That's all. I think I'll go to Madame Pomfrey for some medicine. Don't wait up." I said standing.

"Okay." She said.

"Night." I stood and walked out the portrait hole.

The quiet was a welcome thing. It seemed that there was always noise and loudness everywhere I went. Quietness was what I needed. Just some time to think.

I was going to go to the library.

When I got there it was nice and quiet, like I knew it would be. I went into the shelves and started looking for a good book to read for a bit, while the library was still open.

I eventually came upon a book about potions. Like what all these different types of potions did and how to reverse the effects and stuff like that. Then I choose a table and sat down and started reading.

I was so enthralled by my book I didn't notice one James Potter come out of the rows of book shelves. He was clutching a book in his hand.

"Lil?" He said.

"What?" I said looking up, slightly startled by him.

When I looked at him my stomach got butterflies. When he spoke I got butterflies. When he even came in the room I got butterflies! He did something to me! I know it!

"The library is going to close in a bit. I hope you know." He said. His hair was messy as usual. It also looked so soft. I knew it was soft from our little slip up on the train. And my slip up during potions. I wouldn't mind getting to touch his hair again...

"Oh. Right. Thanks." I said standing up. When I stood I landed on my ankle wrong. I fell but luckily James had caught me before I hit the ground.

My skin tingled where he touched me.

"You alright?" He asked helping me up.

"Yeah. Sorry I just landed wrong. I'll be fine." I said, avoiding his eyes.

I was a bit unsteady on my feet. "Do you need help getting back to the common room?" He asked.

"Um. I don't know. I.. I think I'll be okay. Maybe stay with me just in case?"

"Yeah! Yeah sure! I'll stay with you!" He said smiling goofily.

"Okay. I'm just gonna go check this book out." I said. Then I limped over to Madame pince.

"So why where you in the library so late? Why were you in the library at all?" I asked when we were back in the hall.

"Oh... Uh.... Um... I just needed a book. That's all. Needed a book." He stuttered.

"Care to tell me what the book was?" I asked. I was curious as to why he was acting this way.

"Um no. It. It doesn't matter."

"Uh-huh. So I see you still have the book. You wouldn't mind if I just.." Then I tried to snatch it from his grasp.

But he moved to quickly and I found myself falling for the second time that night. James of coarse caught me.

"You know, lily, I can carry you if you want." James said smirking a bit.

"Oh sod off potter!" I said standing.

"Right. Well it seems you're having trouble walking so I'm just gonna.." Then he swept me into his arms and carried me bridal style with his arm under my knees and one of his hands on my back.

"Potter! Put me down! Oh my goodness!" I shrieked.

"No! Lily I wouldn't want you to get hurt!" He said laughing.

"Oh whatever!" I said laughing along. I had wrapped my arms around his neck, but couldn't remember deciding to do that.

"Okay lil. We have arrived." He said stopping outside the portrait hole.

"Thank you James." I said. Looking into his hazel eyes. He still hadn't put me down.

"Uh.. James, you can set me down now.." I said softly, secretly hoping he wouldn't.

"Well we aren't in the common room yet. I promised to take you to the common room." He said,
softly as well.

"Oh. Okay." I said leaning in a bit. His eyes were amazing. I could just swim in them...

"Oi! Mate! I've been lookin for you!" Sirius said coming out of the common room, pulling us out of our trance. James dropped me.

"Oh lily! I'm so sorry!" James helped me up.

"Wait.. Where you guys snogging?!" Sirius asked.

"No! Why would you think that?! I wouldn't snog him!" I said defensively.

"We weren't snogging. Just talking." James said.

"Um. Well goodnight." I said then left into the portrait hole. As I left I heard Sirius ask James: "Did you get the book?" And James say "Yeah, she almost saw it though."
