"Thank you, I mean you really did not have to bring me home. I am not a little kid" I laugh as he joins in putting his hands into his pockets.

"It was honestly no problem. In fact it was my pleasure" he smiles as I return it

The door swings open and there stood Hayes with a confused look plastered onto his face.

"Hey" I smile at him before awkwardly looking between him and Hayes as hayes intensely looks at him.

"Um, Hayes this is Nate, my new co-worker. Nate this is Hayes my um" well this was harder than I thought "my friend" I say introducing them

"Nice to meet you" Nate smiles as he extends his arm to shake Hayes' but he refuses, completely ignoring it.

"Okay" Nate mumbles taking back his hand before rocking on his heels "I should get going, I had fun today. I will see you tomorrow" he smiles giving me a hug before leaving a quick kiss on my cheek

"it was nice meeting you" he say awkwardly looking towards Hayes before he nods and heads into his car.

I huff and shake my head before pushing past him and into the house.

He closes the door and just stands there looking at me, intensely may I add.

"You did not have to be rude" I say through gritted teeth crossing my arms over my chest

He scoffs before speaking "you realize you have a child, at home, waiting on you, right? instead you're out with some guy doing god knows what"

"You're one to talk aren't you" I chuckle "I was gone for three hours after work and you were gone for three goddam years. shit maybe next time I'll return in three years. Oh wait you've already done that"

"Don't try and turn this one me. I was just pointing out the obvious" I cut him off shaking my head "I can not believe you. do you really think I'm that naive to even forget that I have a child?" I chuckle

"You know last time I check she was coming out of my vagina not yours. so yes Hayes, I'm not stupid I know I have a daughter, something you forgot" I mumble the last part, not wanting to fight with him anymore I head upstairs to Alanis' room.

I kiss her little forehead before heading into my room and getting my clothes to sleep in.

I unfold my sheets from my bed and throw some pillows onto the floor, because to be honest I have ten thousand pillows.

I lay down and cover myself with the sheets before reaching to turn my lamp off.

I grab my phone from my nightstand and go on it, scrolling through Instagram.

There was a light knock on the door before it cracked open. Hayes popping on his head.

I sighed and locked my phone setting it back on the nightstand "yeah?" I ask before he completely comes in closing the door behind him.

"Sorry" he mumbles looking at his feet "it's okay" I say leaning back against my headboard.

"No it's not. We aren't even dating and i'm overreacting and I have no right to tell you what I told you" he sighs sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Why did you overreact?" I ask furrowing my eyebrows

"I-I don't know" he mumbles before fiddling with his hands.

"Cute" I laugh making him look up "what?" He questions clearly confused

"You my friend were jealous" I tease "what? no" he chuckles nervously "I mean he is hot" I say every so sarcastically

"You know, you shouldn't use the words 'friend' and 'jealous' in the same sentence" he informs "basically just friend-zoned me, hurtful" he teases

"Whatever jackass I'm going to sleep" I say laying down covering myself back up "and um, did you really mean what you said down there?" he asks

I sigh before answering "no sorry I was burning in anger" he heads to the door slightly opening it so he can slip through it.

"Well, anger is the unwanted truth to be told"

and as soon as he said that, he left, leaving me to drown in my thoughts.
