Scarlett Rodriguez;

"babe there's a knock on the door!" he yells from the bathroom as he's taking a shower

"I know I'm not deaf!" I yell back laughing as I hear him chuckle. I get up from the vanity and make my way downstairs

"Alanis stop eating those chips" I sternly say before I head to the door to open it

I open it and to my surprise there was someone who I'd least expect for it to be.

"Mom I want to leave" Alanis came to the door and stood next to me "who's this man mom?" She asked

"No one baby" I smile to look at her "go to your room an get ready, daddy will be ready soon so we can leave" she nods looking at him before heading upstairs

"What do you want Hayes" I sigh "I want to talk" he tells me looking down at his shoes "I also missed her, my little Alanis" he says smiling mostly to himself

"Not so little anymore" I nod and cross my arms over my chest "can we talk?" He asks I hear someone clear their throat and I turn around "hey who's this?" He asks looking at Hayes

"No one" I say but Hayes decided to talk "I'm Hayes Grier, her ex boyfriend, Alanis' father"

"Oh nice to meet you, I'm Jack Gilinsky, Alanis' step-father, Scarlett's husband" he extends his arm to shake his hand but Hayes refuses after the words 'Alanis' step-father and Scarlett's Husband' came out of his mouth

"Babe, can I talk to him for a sec while you get Alanis and get the car started" I smile up at him and he's nods smiling back

He plants a kiss on my lips and says goodbye to hayes before going to get Alanis

"Ok what do you want to talk about?" I ask "you got married" he asks but it comes out more as a statement "yeah" I say just above a whisper

"Right" he chuckles "but getting married to me was the worst thing ever" he shakes his head

"Hayes, I came home to you to tell you yes because I loved you. I felt so overwhelmed by all the attention we had that night and just everything came back to the surface all the good but all the bad. I realized I wanted to be your wife and be with you forever after the short walk I took that night" I pause and look down at my shoes

"I came back that night hoping to become your fiancé but that night you took your stuff and took my daughter to her grandmas house and left. leaving me with a letter, all I had that was yours - was that letter. no information on where you went, who you went with or when you would be back. I wasn't going to sit around for 4 years hoping for you to come back to me. All the pain you felt when I had to think about my answer I felt for several months before I met Jack" I feel my eyes getting watery but I refuse to let tears fall.

Jack comes downstairs with Alanis "ready babe?" He asks and I nods "yeah" I say before we head out and I close the door behind me

"Goodbye Hayes, I'll see you soon"

and that day was the day I knew I could never give up on Hayes, no matter what happened or what has happened.

I loved Hayes too much to let him go

Yes I have Jack and he's great he's beyond fantastic towards me and towards Alanis, but he will never be Hayes.

He will never be my baby daddy
