Chapter Eighteeen

I didn't even realise when Monday rolled round. Jeremy and I didn't feel like going to school. We both knew that we couldn't look at our significant others in the face without feeling betrayed. I mean wouldn't you? I could smell freshly cooked pancakes and that only could mean one thing; bad news. My mother thought that if she made pancakes then the news wouldn't be as harsh. It worked- at times. Not today, since both Jeremy and I weren't happy.

I didn't even bother walking down the stairs so I just kind of slid down.

"Tough morning, huh?" I grunted at Jeremy's voice and he made a sound in agreement. "I know exactly how you feel l, big sis. Can we just stay in? I don't want to go to school." I sighed but nodded.

This was the routine for the rest of the mornings that week and next thing you know, Monday had come back.

I lay staring up at my ceiling when the alarm on my phone began the incessant beeping. I emotionlessly threw my phone against the wall, consequently breaking it. I closed my eyes expecting to go back to bed when I heard a ruckus outside my door.

"She doesn't want to see anyone! Especially, YOU!" I heard Jeremy's voice boom up the stairs. I lashed out of my bed at the thought of Ben being at the door. My baggy clothes and shaggy hair were signs of my deteriorating body- and spirit.

"SHE NEEDS TO KNOW!" A female voice yelled back at him. It sounded like Sarah. Of course she would want to see me; add insult to wound.

"Know what?!" Jeremy screamed in exasperation. Scrambling out of bed, I pulled my hooded jumper over my head. Stumbling, I yanked open my door to see my brother in a chokehold and Sarah holding him there. My arms stretched out, I ran at full speed towards her. She toppled over in a heap on the ground and Jeremy slumped on the ground holding his neck, gulping considerable amounts of air.

Turning back to Sarah, I noticed that she had fully recovered from my attack. Anger flashed through her eyes for a second before she had her innocent, sickly-sweet grin on her face again.

“What do you want?” I growled at her. Her nose perked up then recoiled in disgust. I hadn’t showered in two days; didn’t see the need of it if I wasn’t leaving the house. Soon enough, the smile was back on her face.

“It’s Ben,” she began, the smile dropping and a serious look back on her first. “He’s gone to my father. I don’t know what he’s going to do but I have a hunch that it has something to do with Abbie.”

I gasped. “You know about Abbie?” I thought I was the only one to know. Of course I wasn't. I was only just a conquest to save Abbie.

"Of course I do! I'm the Alpha who is keeping Abbie captive'sdaughter. I know everything concerning Ben's mission." I flinched at the word mission. That's all I was, wasn't I? "Anyway, Ben is planning to confront my father. He's going to sacrifice himself for my father to release Abbie." She gulped. "My father won't do that though. My father is horribly saddistic. He would torture Abbie in front of him before killing Ben. My father is only satisfied through someone else's pain."

My eyes widened in horror. I then regained composure.

"So, what do you want me to do about it?" I feigned nonchalance whilst looking at my fingernails.

She gave out an exasperated sigh before turning to Jeremy with pleading eyes. Jeremy rolled his eyes but I knew he would side with Sarah, and not because she qas his mate.

"I know what Ben was about to do to you was horribly wrong but as Beta, I'm in second in command and I have promised father to help you with decisions and lead you the right way." He sighed. "I can't believe I'm about to say this; you have to help Ben. If not for him, for his daughter. Abbie hasn't done anything to you. Ben has marked and her being your child means that you have a bond with her whether you like it or not. You can't let her die."

I rolled my eyes knowing he had a point. Now, was when he chose to be profound and the big brother I needed. Not 2 weeks ago when he was stuffing dog poop in my locker.

"Fine!" I hissed. Both Jeremy and Sarah beamed at me befor hugging eachother. They both composed themselves and realising what he had done, he scowled at himself and sent it to Sarah. Her mile dropped and a look of guilt flashed across her face. Jeremy can be so stubborn sometimes.

Isn't that what I'm being though; stubborn? I didn't Ben a chance to explain. I just ran as fast as I could.

"What's the plan?" I asked Sarah. She smirked in response.

"You're so lucky that I think ahead." She crossed her arms across her chest before leading us into the family room downstairs. "I'm so great that I have a plan already."

Jeremy and I sent eachother skeptical looks. Looking at her, we scoffed and rolled our eyes. Damn, we haven't done the simultaenous twin things in a while.

She waved us off before continuing. "So here's the plan..."
