Chapter Ten

Melissa

“So, what now?” I asked Mr. Arley, staring up at him, nervously. He leaned down towards me as my breath got caught in my throat. His lips trailed slowly over mine. My breathing grew jagged. I closed my eyes as his lips hovered over my jaw. He wasn’t touching me at all but he was driving me crazy. “Mr. Arley...” I moaned quietly. I threw my arms around his neck. He stood up straight and I opened my eyes. He stood there smirking at me. I frowned at him.

“I guess, we have to tell everybody.” He whispered. His lips spread into his gorgeous smile. “Or, we could have a secret student/teacher affair. That would be so hot.” He laughed.

“Oh my gosh, you are such a guy.” I giggled as I slapped his chest. I turned to look at his empty classroom. I came here to wait for Jeremy’s football practice to finish; stupid jock. “But seriously, wouldn’t you get fired. I mean, it’s against school rules to date a teacher, even if I turn 18 next month.” His left eyebrow shot up, inquisitively.

“You turn eighteen next month?”  He asked. I nodded slowly. “What day?” He quizzed.

“October 1st.” I replied. He smiled at me.

“I’m guessing it was truly meant to be.” He whispered, more to himself than to me. I furrowed my eyebrows, confused. “My birthday is October 1st.” He answered my unasked question. A locker from down the hall slammed and our heads turned to see who it was. It was Brent. What was he doing here so late?

“I’ll see you later.” I quickly said to Mr. Arley before rushing over to Brent.

“Bye!” He called after me. I waved my hand over my shoulder and fell into step with Brent.

“Hey,” I said softly. He looked down at me and smiled softly and gave a slight nod.

“Hi.” He replied and then looked away. “So... you and Mr. Arley?” The small smile on his face had disappeared. I frowned.

“What about Mr. Arley and me?” I asked. He shook his head dismissively.

“Never mind; I already know.” He said nonchalantly. “I’m a telepath, remember? One of its ‘perks’” His tone was dripping in sarcasm. I heard my name being called in the distance and looked around for who was calling me but the hallway was empty apart from me and Brent.

Melissa, get your butt out here. It’s raining!  Jeremy’s voiced hissed in my head. I jumped in surprise. “Brent, I have to go but we will definitely talk about this later, okay?” I said before jogging down the hallway to the school’s main entrance where Jeremy was waiting on the outside; glaring.

“You’re dead to me.” He grumbled in his tight whit tee and his arms exposed. His hair was drenched in wet and hi white tee had become see through. “Stop staring at my nipples and get to the car!” He yelled and took my arms to drag me to the car.

“Actually, Jeremy, I need to talk to you...” I trailed mock innocently. “You already know what about...” I waggled my eyebrows as he looked at me. He rolled his eyes but looked down obviously blushing.

“She’s not my mate!” he exclaimed. I played the confused card.

“What are you talking about?” I asked. “I never said anything about mates. I was going to talk to you about Mr. Arley and dad but please, go on and tell me more about this person , whomever you are talking about, not being your mate.”

“Oh shut up,” he mumbled as he slammed my car doo open.

“Hey, watch it!” I yelled at him “Don’t get angry at me because you haven’t found your mate.” I mumble under my breath.

“HEY! I HEARD THAT!” He screamed in my ear once I was in the driver’s seat. “Now, Shut up and drive.” He ordered and I rolled my eyes and let him think he is the boss. What harm can that do?
