The fortress trembled beneath their feet.

Cracks split the crystalline floor as the storm above unraveled. Wind currents collapsed in on themselves, and the once-floating towers began to drift listlessly. Sophia stood in the broken chamber, Kaen unconscious behind her, Noah silent at her side.

Rael and the others arrived moments later, eyes wide.

"You stopped him," Rael whispered, glancing between the still-burning scorch marks and the unconscious traitor. "I didn't think... I thought you'd both be dead."

Sophia turned toward the open sky. "He wasn't the only one being used."

The wind was too quiet.

Like it was listening.

They took Kaen into custody, binding him in chains of wind-forged iron. The Sky Faction elders—what few remained—gathered in the Hall of Echoes, their faces drawn with guilt and shame.

"The Voice reached into us," one elder said. "It offered order. Power. And we believed the lie."

Sophia stepped forward, the wind swirling around her like it knew her name.

"I need to know what it said to Kaen. And to you."

The eldest among them, a woman with hair like drifting cloud, nodded.

"We called it the Voice of the Skies. But it's older than that. A remnant. A whisper from the Time Before the Six."

Sophia felt her heart lurch.

"Before the elements?"

"No. Beneath them."

Later, in the quiet of the sky gardens, Sophia sat beneath a tree that grew without roots, suspended in midair. Noah approached slowly, his steps heavy.

"I can't feel it anymore," he said.

She looked up.

"The fire?"

He shook his head. "The rage."

She reached for his hand.

"It's still there," he admitted. "But you make it quiet."

Sophia smiled gently. "We quiet each other."

But before the moment could settle, a gust of wind lifted a single silver feather from the air—and placed it in Sophia's palm.

A memory not her own flashed across her mind.

Elyra. Standing on this very cliff. Speaking to someone she trusted.

"If they find out what I've done, Sophia will never be safe..."

Sophia gasped.

Noah caught her. "What did you see?"

She opened her eyes slowly. "My mother. A memory. Hidden in the wind."

He frowned. "A memory?"

She stood, her voice low. "She didn't just hide me to protect me from Kaelvar. She was hiding something else. Something worse."

The Wind Kingdom's archives were not built—they were grown. Branching shelves of living crystal stretched across the sky like vines, holding tomes, scrolls, and glyphs that whispered when touched. Each held a fragment of memory, a thread of history recorded by the wind.

Rael led them to the inner sanctum, where access was restricted to the highest of Sky Faction keepers.

"You're not supposed to be here," he warned, pulling aside a veil of air that rippled like water. "But if Elyra hid something, this is where it would be."
