The Kingdom of Earth welcomed them with quiet grandeur.
Massive stone gates carved into the cliffs opened slowly as Sophia, Noah, and Kaen descended into the mountain realm of Teralis. Towering pillars rose from deep chasms, connected by bridges of moss-covered marble and glowing crystal veins. The air was warm and dry, carrying the scent of mineral and time.
Sophia marveled at the way the kingdom breathed—stone shifted subtly underfoot, responding to motion like a living thing. It pulsed with an ancient calm.
"Home of patience," Noah murmured beside her. "And secrets."
They crossed the central courtyard where statues of former monarchs lined the path. All were stoic, weather-worn. All but one had a name.
Sophia paused before the nameless one.
"This one's unmarked."
Kaen stopped beside her. "Her story was erased."
Noah tensed. "We don't speak of her."
Sophia looked between them. "Was that the queen's sister?"
Neither answered.

Inside the mountain's heart lay the Hall of Echoes, the throne room carved from a single colossal geode. The floor shimmered with green and gold crystal, and the ceiling reached high into darkness.
At the far end, seated on a throne of stone and lichen, was Queen Maelira.
She wore no crown. Her hair flowed like vines over bronze armor, and her eyes—moss green and unblinking—locked onto Sophia.
"You are the Guardian," she said.
Sophia inclined her head. "And you are the Earth Queen."
Kaen whispered, "Careful. She hears lies in your heartbeat."
Maelira stood. The ground shifted slightly beneath her bare feet. "Why have you come?"
"To train," Sophia replied. "And to ask... about your sister."
A silence so deep it roared filled the chamber.
Stone groaned.
Noah muttered a curse under his breath.
Maelira's gaze narrowed. "Who told you?"
"Kaen," Sophia said plainly. "He said to ask."
The queen's jaw clenched.
"The past is buried for a reason," she said coldly. "But some roots grow too deep to cut."
She stepped down from the dais.
"If you want truth, Guardian... you'll have to unearth it yourself."
⸻
Later that evening, they were housed in a guest tower carved from living rock. It was beautiful, cool, and utterly silent.
Kaen leaned against the wall, arms crossed.
"You just had to ask," he muttered.
"She deserved to know," Sophia said. "And she didn't deny it."
"She didn't confirm it either."
"She didn't have to."
⸻
Outside, the stars rose over stone peaks like lanterns in the dark. Sophia stood on the balcony, staring into the shadows between mountains.
Noah joined her.
