The wind howled through the Sky Kingdom as final preparations began. Beneath the translucent halls of the Sky Temple, warriors moved in quiet formation, gathering supplies, crafting enchanted weapons, and repairing airships damaged during Kaen's sabotage.

Sophia stood at the edge of a high balcony, gazing toward the jagged line of mountains far in the east—where the skies turned violet, and the Core lay hidden beyond storms that never died.

The map before her shimmered with symbols that only responded to her touch. Old routes carved into mountains, paths spoken of only in legend. Her fingers hovered over a marked ravine called The Scar of Elyra.

Noah approached silently. "That's where it begins?"

"Yes," Sophia murmured. "A rift in the earth, made when my mother unleashed the full power of the elements to seal Kaelvar. The terrain is unstable. Nothing grows there. No light touches it."

"And that's the safe part of the route?" Noah asked dryly.

She allowed herself a tired smile. "Apparently."

Within the war hall, Elira addressed the chosen party. They would travel with only a small group—ten warriors, three mages, and two guides. Stealth, not force, was their weapon now.

"Kaelvar's spies are everywhere," Elira warned. "Even within elemental strongholds. Trust only those you must. Not everyone who wears your colors fights for your cause."

Sophia watched the assembled faces: Aerlyn, ever stoic; Joren, the Earthbound captain who had once questioned her leadership; Naida of the Water Guard, who owed Sophia her life.

And then there was Dorian—a quiet scholar from the Wind archives who had insisted on joining.

"I know the riddles of the Core," he said. "The last verse of the prophecy speaks of veiled trials. Without someone who understands the old tongues, you'll die before you reach the threshold."

Sophia studied him. "And what do you gain from this, Dorian?"

He met her gaze without flinching. "The truth."

They departed at dawn, leaving the floating majesty of the Sky Kingdom behind. Below them stretched a land of wild beauty—endless forests, crystal lakes, and shifting sands that moved like living things. They traveled aboard a sleek windcraft, a ship of silver sails and whisper-thin hulls that glided above the earth like a dream.

As they soared across the continent, Sophia's heart beat faster. She could feel it again—that quiet vibration in her chest. The same hum that had called to her the night she crossed from her world to this one.

It was growing stronger.

On the third night, the sky turned amber with approaching storms. They made camp beneath the shelter of a great stone overhang near the edge of the Wyrmspire Mountains.

Sophia sat beside the fire, her mind a tangle of questions.

Noah sat opposite her, sharpening his blade. "You're not sleeping."

"Neither are you."

"I don't trust this silence," he said. "It's too quiet."

Sophia glanced toward the others. Most were asleep. But Dorian sat nearby, studying an ancient tome under the light of a floating crystal.

"He says he's here for the prophecy," she said softly. "But something about him doesn't add up."

Noah's jaw tightened. "We watch him. If he strays, we follow. And if he betrays—"
