After All These Years ~ Koichi

She's crying.

As she turns around from the tree I notice she looks the same way she did the day I told her I hated her.

Her skin is pale, her face looks tired, and her eyes are sad.

"Mitzuko what's going on?"

She stands there tears falling from her face. I hear the door from her house open.

It's her dad.

"Mitzuko come back inside we need to check you."

Check her?

The next thing I know Mitzuko grabs my hand and takes off running with me towards school.

We stop running when we make it closer to school.

Mitzuko lets go of my hand and stands there motionless.

"Mitzuko? Mitzuko!?!"

She almost looks lifeless. I have to snap her out of it.

"Mitzuko."

She still stands there so I grab her shoulders and push her against the fence.

"Mitzuko look at me."

She's looking at me physically, but mentally she's not.

Her eyes look dead.

"Mitzuko what's going on? You wouldn't tell me a few years ago but you're going to tell me now."

Tears start to fall again but other than that nothing else has changed.

"Mitzuko answer me."

She doesn't. Uh why can't she just-

My thoughts are interrupted because she leans forward and kisses me.

Her kiss feels almost lively.

Once she pulls away I stand there stunned for a minute. Mitzuko takes off running to school.

I can't even move.

Mitzuko kissed me. My first kiss was with Mitzuko.

After all these years.... She still loves me.
