I didn't want her to say what I knew was coming.
She can't tell me.
I let go of her and we both stand there in awkward silence. Her face is tomato red.
"Mitzuko come here for a second!" Yells her mom.
"Coming!" She takes off running downstairs.
Mitzuko will never tell me so I'll have to find out for myself.
...
I decide to look around her room a bit. Her desk contains nothing important and neither does her closet.
Dang it.
I plop myself down on her bed when I land on something hard. I lift up her sheets to see what it is.
It's a book.
...
This isn't any book.
It's her diary.
I open up to one of the last pages and look at the date.
10-6.
That was yesterday.
I hear Mitzuko coming back upstairs.
OH NO. I need to read this if I really want to know what's going on.
I decide to stuff it into my shirt hoping she won't notice. As she walks in I stand awkwardly trying not to drop the book but not make it so obvious that I'm holding it.
"Mom says it's time for dinner", she says not looking at me at all.
"Oh ok coming."
