~Creston's POV~

"God I hate Mondays." I groan as I flump down into my seat next to my friend Michelle. She was one of my closer friends, with long brown hair, pale skin, and she was a bit on the bigger side, but not fat. But she wasn't skinny either. She was wearing gray sweatpants and a purple sweatshirt that said something about clarinets. She was in band, so I think that's what she played.

"Yeah I feel you on that one." She replied back with a soft laugh. She grabbed her caramel frappe off of her desk and took a sip of it.

Holy shit that looks really good. I forgot to make my coffee this morning and am thus having a pretty shitty start to my day. She must have noticed me eyeing her coffee so she put the drink in my face.

"You want some?" She questioned.

"When teachers tell you there's no such thing as a stupid question... you know that's a lie right?" I say sarcastically as I snatch the drink from her hands and take a big gulp. The icy slush makes its way down my throat making me let out a gasp of satisfaction as I hand it back to her.

"Wow! You are mean when you don't have coffee in the morning." She retorted.

I stick my tongue out at her, mockingly, and she just rolls her eyes and continues to drink her frappe while ignoring me.

The bell rings and everyone heads to their seats as our teacher, Mrs. Kohart, walks in. She's one of the good teachers at this school. You know, the ones who you don't want to kill AND can actually teach. I know right! It's very rare. She is younger too; I think her children are in elementary school. She is medium height with medium-length brown-blonde curly hair.

"Ok everyone" she announces "I have to do attendance first then we are going to watch a short video, then the rest of the time is yours." She starts to read off the names of the students in our advisory.

"Like half of our class isn't here." Michelle half-whispers to me, while Mrs. Kohart is reading off attendance.

I glance around the room and notice that she is right, about half of our class isn't here.

"Yeah, that's kind of weird." I replied to her, a little uneasy as to why so many people were gone. "There's probably a flu going around or something." I shrug my shoulders and push the uneasy feeling out of my mind.

"Heard there's a really bad virus or something goin' around." I turn around to see Leroy sitting down at the desk behind me. He's one of the only black kids that goes to this school. He is fairly tall, muscular, light-skinned and has shoulder length dreads.

"Yeah. Already came to that conclusion." I snap.

He looks taken aback by my sudden remark, but then eases back down and just continues on with his "explanation" of why nobody is here. "It was on the news last night. Guess it's spreading around the country or somethin'." I nod my head pretending to be interested.

It's not like I don't like Leroy or have a problem with him, it's just that he's one of those popular jock kids who's overly nice to everyone. God I hate those people. The one who are nice to your face and then probably talk shit about you behind your back. I just don't trust him.

"Hey..." I turn to Leroy who looks up at me from his laptop. "What happened to Cameron Diesel? I heard he got like attacked of something?" There had been this story going around that over the weekend this kid named Cameron Diesel, one of the stupid popular kids, got attacked by some bum while he was at a party.

A wide grin formed on Leroy's face "Yeah. He was out with some of his friends at a party and they needed more booze. So Cameron and Andrew Louer went downtown to find their plug." His grin only grew wider as he kept on telling his story. "So, basically they run into this hobo and they just minding their own business, when the hobo dude attacks Cameron and bites him."
