I was originally planning to make this chapter really long but decided to split it up into two chapters instead.

Enjoy!

I let out a heavy sigh as I give up and turn off the T.V.

I look at my cell phone and see that I don't have any messages from Joe; despite me calling him at least ten times.

It's been about two days since the riots started. They've progressively gotten worse and worse. Apparently, it's gotten to the point where the news stations can't even show live coverage anymore because things are just too violent for them to be airing on television.

Luckily for me, there's this thing called YouTube; and from what I've seen on there, I can take a guess as to why they can't air that stuff on television.

The videos show people being shot, burned, beaten up... and eaten by other people.

Those are the videos that terrify me the most.

Normally, I would just laugh at them and say that they're fake... but I know all too well that they aren't fake.

They're one hundred percent authentic.

I learned that the hard way.

Anyway, there's a rumor that the National Guard is coming to settle things down since we live in a bigger city and the violence is worse here than anywhere else around here. So hopefully it gets better soon; it's so boring having to stay at home all day.

At least the power is still on and the internet is still working.

God, I would die of boredom if the internet stopped working!

I was dragged out of my thoughts of impending doom, which would probably never happen, by a loud rumbling coming from my stomach. I look at my phone and realized that it's already 7 in the afternoon. I lift myself from the couch and head to the kitchen to see if we have anything good to eat.

My mom hasn't been out to the store in a few days since she works as a nurse's aide at the hospital. In fact, now that I think about it, she hasn't been home in almost two days.

Eh, not that I really care, we never got along very well anyway. She loves my brother but absolutely HATES me for being gay. I came out to Joe about three years ago, and my mom about two years ago. Joe took it really well and we actually became closer.

My mother, however, took it the complete opposite way that Joe did. She started screaming at me and telling me that I would "burn in hell for all eternity for my perverted ways!" She even tried to kick me out of the house. Luckily, Joe came to my defense and threatened to disown her as a mother and tell everyone that she was a homophobic prick; which in turn would ruin her career and family ties. She about had a heart attack at hearing this and had an emotional breakdown. She eventually came to her, almost non-existent, senses and decided to tolerate me for the time being.
