Chapter 9: "A Thousand Years"

Hey guys! Here is that song that I referenced in my last chapter. I FREAKING LOVE IT! So perfect. It is called A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. So... I'll just let this play out as so.

Aphmau's POV
I'm in my bedroom singing. After yesterday's events, I have had this song stuck in my head. I start to get caught up in it so much that I start to sing it out loud.

I sigh.

"Wow. You are a beautiful singer." I hear someone say behind me. "GAH!" I yell. I didn't even notice the door open.

I turn around, and who I see is none other that Garroth himself. He is smiling and slightly blushing. "Oh. H..hi, Garroth. I didn't see you there. Why are you here? Actually why are you at my room?" I ask curiously.

He blushes again. "I..I w..wanted to ask you i..if you maybe... W..wanted to go on a..a date?"

I smile, my eyes lighting up. "Yes! I'll go on a date with you!" I hug him excitedly. "Wh..where are we going? And what time?" I chirp giving a joyful bounce. "Haha! I was thinking, maybe in that wooded area with all of the dark oak trees just before sundown?" I giggle. "Sure!" As I dash out infront of him.

I head straight for Cadenza's house. I knock on her door. "Cadenza! Can I talk to you?" She opens the door. "Sure Aphmau! Follow me." She leads me into her basement.

"Cadenza, I..I have a request for you, could you make a dress for me?" I ask her sort of shyly. Cadenza gives an excited bounce. "YES I'LL MAKE A DRESS FOR YOU!" She squeals. As she calms down, she asks. "What's the special occasion?"

I look down at my feet, smiling and blushing. "Garroth is taking me on a date." I say. I look up at Cadenza. Her mouth is wide open. Then. Oh Irene Cadenza. Why?

She has the STUDPIDEST. SMILE. ON. HER. FACE.

"Oooh! Aaaaphmau! Are you two a thing?!?!" She sings in a happy high-pitched voice. I smile to myself. "EEEK! DON'T WORRY APHMAU! THIS WILL BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DRESS YOU HAVE EVER LAID YOUR EYES ON!" and with that, she bolts to her sewing kit and starts on the dress. She whips out her sewing needle and thread, pulls off a long piece, and threads the needle, and starts sewing a piece of fabric.

What the?!? That woman is fast with the needle and thread! I think as I walk up the steps. I wince as she pricks her finger, drawing blood. Then, to my amazement, she flicks her hand as if it were nothing.

I will never understand you, Cadenza. I think to myself. As I reach for Cadenza's door I stop dead in my tracks.

My heart drops to my stomach.

Oh Irene! I forgot that Laurance has feelings for me as well! Oh no! Is he going to be mad at Garroth or me because were going on a date. Will he become angry or sad that his "Brother" and his, erm. "Love" are going out? Will he... I sigh. He is just going to have to accept us and move on. I feel bad for him, I mean. He is a really good guy, but he is just not my type. I..I just have feelings f..for Garroth. Why is life so difficult! I am going out with the person I love, but a really good friend also loves me.

How can this happen without hurting anyone?

I shake my head, clearing my thoughts. No. Laurance is an understanding person. He..he.. I don't finish my thought.

Why am I ruining a soon-to-be perfect day with such negative thoughts? Snap. Out. Of. It. Aphmau. You are going on a date with Garroth! Stay positive.

I smile really wide at the thought of my date. I look up at the sky, the sun is still just rising. Squee! I'm so excited!

~Afternoon~

I just finished my daily rounds, checking on the village, the walls, and the plaza. I walk to Cadenza's house and as I knock on her door, out comes Cadenza with that same huge grin.

"Oh Aphmau! Come, your dress is ready!" she says and then she sqeals and runs into her basement.

I follow her and she is standing next to an amazing dress. It is lavender purple and it goes down to about ankle length. The front has a cut down the middle that slowly gets wider as it reaches the feet, and a white fleecey fabric is underneath. The top has a lace that holds it together in a criss-cross pattern.

"Wow! Cadenza, it's beautiful!" I say as she jusps up and down in pure joy. "Go try it on!" She chirps and I put on the dress in her cubby underneath the steps. "Cadenza! You are a wizard with kind of stuff!" I say as I come out of her changing area. "SQEEE! IT LOOKS AMAZING ON YOU!" She squeals, the dress fits perfectly.

"Thank you so much, Cadenza! I will never understand how you do this so quickly!" I say as I walk out of the door. "It's no problem! If it looks beautiful, then I did my job! Now go on your date with Garroth!" She says excitedly, whispering the last part to me.

~Hey guys! So I just wanted to thank you all so, so, SO much for 100 reads! I am truly surprised at how far this story has gotten! I never expected it to get more than like, idk 40 reads, but ONE. FREAKING. HUNDRED?!? I am so happy! Thank you all!
Also I just discovered that this song's actual video revolves around the movie Twilight. I have never seen it so... Eh whatever! XD
