17. Family..

Clarification:

Ravi is Anirudh's father's name.

Lakshmi is his mother's name.

Anirudh's family were on their way home. Anirudh was driving,Poorva was in the passenger seat and their parents occupied the back seats. Poorva asked

'Dad how come we are traveling by one car? Anne came from office right? There where is his car?'

Her father replied,

'We told the driver to get the another car so that we can get home together. We were planning to celebrate Anirudh's success tonight but Anirudh already had a celebration in mind...right Poorva'

Her father hinted towards her and Sathish's marriage proposal. Poorva's cheeks went red and she immediately regreted her question. Looking at her everybody started laughing. Top divert their attention Poorva enquired

'So mom did you inform Gautham and Parvathi about our marriages?'

Her mother answered,

'I informed them about Anirudh's wedding but your marriage thing was so sudden. I couldn't inform them and now they must be in the flight so I thought I must wait till they get home'

'Mom you should have informed them earlier. Now Paru(Parvathi) will create fit about how she is not treated as a part of the family and blah..blah..all sorts of non sense.. You treat her as your daughter and she doesn't even bother to talk to you properly.' Poorva replied outraged.

'Poorva,she is your sister in law. Please treat her that way. Give her some respect. You have to respect her to get respect in return.' Her mother spoke in finality.

'Mom you know that we don't get along well. She treats me as if I am some kind of a robber stealing her things. Were in reality she stole my room.' Poorva replied with a sulking face. Her mother smacked her from behind

'Ouchh mom it hurts..' she said rubbing her back.

'Poorva get one thing clear,it's Paru's house too.. so stop sulking about the room.. It was six months old subject,forget it already.. And what are you complaining for, you atleast live in a separate room and you have your comfort and privacy.. Your brother lives in a living room that to on a sofa.. He never complained about it.. So stop complaining!' Her mother said sternly. The car came to a halt as they reached their house.

'Still I don't like her much..' Poorva declared this and got down and slammed the car door and ran towards their house. Her mother sadly looked at her husband and said

'What I am going to do with this girl..She is going to get married and acts like a 5 years old'

Saying that she got down with her husband and Anirudh went ahead to park the car. Anirudh's father was walking towards the elevator when he noticed that his wife was not along side him. He turned and saw her sitting in the garden in front of their home. He slowly walked towards her. Anirudh was walking towards the elevator after parking the car. When he noticed her parents sitting in the garden he smiled and walked away giving them privacy. Anirudh's father sat near his wife who was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't notice him. He slowly placed his hand on her shoulder. She was surprised for a second then she leaned on his shoulder. 'Ravi,what will Poorva do after we are not their look after her. She has always been a demanding child. She wants everything as per her wish and being our only daughter she has been pampered a lot.' She said with glistening eyes.

'Don't you trust Sathish? Her loves her a lot,he will take care of her' he replied reassuringly.

'I know that and I am not talking about Sathish and his family. I am talking about our family..'

'Our family.. Lakshmi don't you trust your sons?'

'No Ravi,I know they love Poorva a lot and will always fulfill all her demands. Bu the thing which concerns me is nobody will refuse her for anything'

'I don't get your point Lakshmi. Why must Poorva's demands be denied. By gods grace we have everything'

'Ravi I know..But our daughter takes everything for granted. She thinks she can get everything she wants. And if she doesn't she throws tantrums. And you know well that without scolding her we can't get through it. And i know my sons well,they will never raise their voice on Poorva. Paru and Poorva have some kind of riff between them I don't think they are going to get along anytime soon. They act like this in front of us,what will they do after we are no in their life? And for Kavisha, i know she is the most sensible among all of them but Poorva is her friend first and she has a soft spot for her son I don't think she can control this either..'

She sighs in defeat. Ravi holds his wife and says, 'don't worry we are not leaving them anytime soon,so don't worry everything will be alright..'

They walked into their house and a small smile crept on their faces.

Poorva and Paru were sitting on the floor with Paru's vacation luggage open with all sorts of cpsmetic products spread over the room. With the look of it Paru must be giving Poorva her gift. Gautham and Anirudh were on couch where Gautham excitedly showed Anirudh their vacation pictures.

Ravi and Lakshmi looked at each other and smiled. Everything was not that bad. Finally Lakshmi said, 'Hey Gautham Paru welcome home.. When did you get back?'

Gautham got up from his seat and walked towards them and hugged them..

'Hey mom dad we just reached 20 mins ago..'

They all walked towards the couch and sat there.

Ravi asked Paru,

'How was your trip Paru ma? Did you enjoy it?'

'It was great fun dad..We enjoyed a lot, thanks for the trip'

'Don't thank me Paru,it was Anirudh's plan to give you two a break.. thank him'

Gautham turned to Anirudh and hugged him

'Thanks anne,it was a great fun. You and anni must go there for your honeymoon..' Anirudh felt scandalized.. 'Excuse me.. I will freshen up and come'

and he promptly left his seat. Gautham chuckled looking at his brother's shyness and said

'What's the hurry anne? Plan your honeymoon tomorrow morning,come lets chat..' for which he received a high five from Poorva and Paru. And Anirudh left the room glaring at Gautham. As he left everybody burst out laughing.

Next morning Kavisha was invited by Lakshmi to their house for breakfast as she had not met Gautham and Paru in a long time and they insisted to meet Kavisha. Lakshmi even invited Sathish but he had some emergency so he couldn't join them. Kavisha had known all of them well and also had visited them a lot but she felt butterflies in her stomach because she was going to their house first time as their daughter in law. Her nervousness flew out of the window when she entered their house. Everybody warmly welcomed her. They had fun time. They enjoyed their breakfast. It was quite an affair though as Anirudh held her hand under the table throughout the breakfast and Poorva,Paru and Gautham couldn't stop teasing them. Ravi and Lakshmi had tears in their eyes looking at their family.

They were brought out of their thoughts when their landline phone rang. Lakshmi got the call.

'Hello..'

After some time she said..shocked..

'What?'

Her shocked face got everybody's attention and they immediately got along side her..
