Chapter twenty one

The trial

That's what's happening right now. I'm standing outside the court room as everyone waits inside, for me.

I could always run, and never look back. The only thing that's stopping me is this big wooden door. The big question. Should I go in and face my demons? Or should I walk away and let them run wild?

I feel like the air is getting thinner, and my vision is getting blurrier. This is all too much for a girl to face. I don't how kitty's doing it. Hell, I don't even how I've gotten this far without exploding.

I want to run and never look back, so I slowly take a step back, until Santana walks in, she walks in holding her phone.

I can barely move, let alone talk, so I just look at her with fear in my eyes. She hands me the phone and I put it up to my ear.

Rachel, it's me Finn,

I hear from the phone. I immediately feel better, but the fear is still there.

Finn?

I say shocked and happy, all at once

Listen, I know you're freaking out, and I know your scared, but you have to go in there and face him. You have to show him that he didn't win, and he's not going too, show him you're not afraid and you'll never be, ever again. I know you can do it Rachel, I believe in you, now you need to believe in you,

I felt like crying. He's right, I need to face him, not for the court or for anyone, but me. He always knows what to say when I'm in crisis. I couldn't be more grateful to have him.

I say into the phone gripping it as if he were here too.

No problem Rach, just do me a favor and win, not for anyone in that courtroom, but for you, because you deserve justice.

I stood there crying. I think I might love Finn, because honestly, he's my knight in shining armor. I don't know what I'd do without him.

"Ms. Berry, we're ready for you" one of the guards tells me

I think Finn heard me freaking out when the guard said that because I heard,

You got this, just believe in yourself, and show him that you're stronger than he is, and he never won, and never will

I quickly added before I realized what I had just told him

He told me and I hung up. I took a deep breath as Santana told me,

"You got this" I nodded

I was about to walk in, but I remembered how much San has been doing things for me since we got here, and how I'm pretty sure she's the one who told Finn to come to the train station.

So I hugged her, I hugged her real tight. I think we both needed it because she squeezed back just as tight.

I stepped back and walked into the court and to the stand.

"The people vs. Rodger Baxter call Rachel Berry to the stand"

I sit down and breath in, and breathe out. I look at the floor afraid of everything and everyone, but then I remember believe in yourself, so I look up.

I see kitty, Sam, Britney, and Santana in the crowd, I look over at the jury, and finally I take a look at the coward who destroyed my life.

He smirks at me and I feel disgusted. I want to look away but it's like a car crash, you just can't look away. I feel like running and leaving everyone behind, including him.
