The Sad Truth

Chapter thirty-five

Tonight's the night of my big date with Finn. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually nervous. I love Finn I really do, but I'm scared that after tonight, he might realize he doesn't love me.

It's all so nerve-wrecking. Santana and Britney came over to help. But Brit called Kurt and Kurt called Quinn and Quinn called Mercedes. So now everyone's here obsessing for me. I'm almost done with makeup when we hear the doorbell ring.

"Look! He's here and he's dressed up all nice for Rachel!!!" Quinn squealed

They all rushed to my balcony and looked at Finn below. I wanted to go see but Mercedes kept me seated.

"Awww, he's so cute, all worrying about himself!!!" Mercedes says
"Oh he got her flowers!!" Britney said kind of loud

Well loud enough for them to rush back inside. They all looked at me proud. I was so nervous my hand started sweating. So I stood up and grabbed my purse.

"Well thank again girls, wish me luck" I said going downstairs

I let them sleepover my house for tonight. Or at least stay there while I go on my date. I reached the door and I took deep breaths, then I opened it and saw Finn looking amazing as ever.

"Wow, rach, you look, stunning" Finn said staring at me in awe

I blushed and smiled at him. He's so sweet.

"Well you don't look too bad yourself mr.hudson" I smiled

He grinned at me, showing me his dimples. Then he extended his hand out.

"Shall we get going beautiful?" He asked

I blushed again and grabbed his hand

"We shall" I said walking to his blue pickup truck

We were sitting in his blue truck now. He has the music on the radio lightly on. He had handed me the flowers so now I'm sitting here. Every now and then I would glance in his direction, and I would catch him staring. It was cute.

We arrived to this place where there was a big tree, and off to the side there was this great view of the moon and the stars, and just Lima itself. I saw some lights were surrounding the tree, and there was a table with a simple candle in the middle. I smiled to myself. Finn really did go all out. For me.

"I know how much you like seeing the stars, so I figured I'd bring you to the best place in Lima where you can see them shine the brightest" Finn explained

I just turned to him and smiled. He's the sweetest guy I've ever met, and I still find it hard to believe that I intrigue him enough to bring me here.

"It's beautiful here" I smile holding his hand

"Not nearly enough as you" he said looking into my eyes

I already felt the blush creep into my cheeks. So I leaned in and kissed his cheek. He looked down blushing too.

"Here, I'll help you out" he said getting out

Soon enough he was walking around and opening the door for me. He gently grabbed my hand and helped my tiny body get off his big blue truck. I almost lost my balance so I feel into his arms more. It felt like we were facing at each other for an eternity.

"Um, here, I'll guide you too the table" he said showing me the table

I sat down as he scooted my chair in. I saw some bread in a basket and there was sandwiches on the plates. He took off the napkins and revealed some fruit too. Honestly it looked delicious.

"I know it's not very spectacular.." He rambled but I interrupted him "it's perfect" I said

He smiled back at me and showed me my sandwich .

"So, I got you a vegan gourmet sandwich, and some sparkling cider" he said pairing me some in our plastic cups

I smiled because he remembered and then he poured himself some cider and we toasted our plastic cups.

"To a new start" he said
"A new start" I repeated

We drank some cider and the whole time we glanced at each other. I couldn't help but smile. It came so naturally for us to start a conversation and just talk. We ate and had some laughs, it felt amazing. He made me feel like I was the only girl that mattered.

After they finished eating

Finn had laid out a blanket. We laid down together and just looked up at the stars. I got a little cold, and I shivered a little. I probably should have brought a jacket.

"Here take mine" he said
"No, you probably need it" I argued
"You're shivering, take my jacket, I'll be fine" he said so calm and soothing

So I reluctantly agreed. I knew he'd be cold so I snuggled up to him. He wrapped his big strong arms around me and we just laid there. Staring at the stars. It felt so natural to just lay here and not speak but stare into the sky.

I glanced at Finn and saw him staring at me with his adorable half smile, and cute dimples.

"What?" I asked
"You're so amazing, and these stars don't shine nearly as bright as you" he smiled

I looked at him and I just smiled.

"How do you do that?" I ask bashful
"Do what" he asks confused
"Make me feel so special," I answer
"I don't, you just are, and anyone with eyes can see, that you're going to do great things one day" he answered so sure of himself

I could feel my heart swell with love and my eyes wanted to cry out in affection. But instead I leaned in and kissed Finn. It didn't take long before he reciprocated and we just laid there, under the stars, kissing.
