The night was young and the movie has ended. It was fun. It was the first time I’ve hang out with Luke and Jai since Luke and I have started dating. We do watch movies before but usually just in their lounge room or at my house, and not in a movie theater. It feels good to be with my best friend and my boyfriend. They’re both special to me.

As soon as the movie ended, people were getting up and rushing out the door of the movie theater. Luke and Jai know me already. I usually stay until the ending of the credits to see if there’s a random video at the end of a movie. I know not all movies have that but I was just used to staying. There’s only a few of us who actually does that. All the people I knew would instantly get up once the movie has ended.

“I’m hungry. Let’s eat!” Luke said.

“I’m not gonna think of where to eat. You two choose.” I told them.

Jai was constantly looking at his phone. “Actually, something came up. I have to go ahead.”

“Aww can’t it wait? We’re going home after eating.”

“No, it’s important.” Jai insisted.

“Please? We can be fast.” I begged.

“Andi, he said he has to go.” Luke uttered.

“Oh okay, text me when you get home.”

I knew that Luke was getting pissed off. He wanted to hang out with me but I decided to drag Jai along. I couldn’t just leave him all alone and I know that he will just go home and do nothing. I can’t do that. Some of my friends told me it’s the guilt. No, that’s not it. He’s important to me too. I know he was the one who got me together with Luke.

If it weren’t for him, we weren’t even dating right now. Maybe I did have some guilt, but I can’t blame the guilt every single time I choose to hang out with Jai. He’s still my best friend. I love him and no one can change that. Not even Luke.

I actually don’t know what’s wrong with Jai. I know there’s something but he just wouldn’t tell me. Earlier at the movie house, he seemed like he was going through a lot. It was a comedy movie, but he wasn’t enjoying. He wasn’t laughing at any of the punch lines. I actually thought to myself, why am I laughing so hard and Jai isn’t. Is this movie not good enough for him? Maybe he’s just not fond of the movie at all. That can happen, right? Not everyone can enjoy what others like. Honestly, it kept me wondering what important “thing” has suddenly come up. I wanted to know why he was in a hurry.

“Let’s try Secret Recipe.” Luke suggested.

We started walking around and headed to the restaurant.

The lady in the front desk greeted us and asked, “Table for how many?”

“Table for 2, please.” Luke answered.

We got there in the nick of time. There weren’t a lot of people yet. We got a table at once. It was a table for four, and Luke sat beside me. The waiter gave us the menus and I was having a hard time to pick which ones.

Luke was looking at the menu when I saw someone familiar walking inside. “Hey Sam!”

“Hey Andi! Hey Luke!” Sam said. The lady at the front desk was leading her to another table near us. “Who are you with on a date, Sam” Luke asked.

“Actually, I’m with Jai.” Sam said as she looked behind her and pointed to Jai. It was Jai. Sam was his important “thing” that came up. How lovely.

I always knew Sam had a thing for Jai, but I never thought that they both gonna go out soon. I feel like raging but I have no right at all. Jai wasn’t my boyfriend and I don’t have the right to tell him who he can date or not. I just felt hurt that they don’t even want to tell me. Don’t I deserve to know?
