Teacher's Pet, part I - 01/23/16
"Rodie! Hey, Rodie!"
They turned to see - what was their name? Sam? - running quickly towards them and forced a grin on to their face.
"Oh, uh, hey."
The boy arrived before them and bent over, trying to catch his breath. He stood up straight and smiled. "Sorry, I just wanted to make sure I caught you before you left."
They shifted their bag on their shoulder. "Yeah, no, that's fine."
"I don't know if you remember my name, but I'm Sal." Right. Sal. "I'm in your human studies class. I was just- you seem cool."
They smiled wider, glad to have somebody see them in a positive way. "You seem cool, too."
He laughed. "Don't lie to me. Anyways, would you wanna be my partner for our project?" Before they could say anything, he hurried to speak again. "If you say no, it's okay. I won't be offended."
"No, no, that'd be great!" Rodie smiled. "I'd love to. Thank you."
"Yeah." Sal ran his hand through his hair. "I'll see you later, don't wanna keep you."
"All right. See you later." They smiled at him again, and then turned away to walk towards the design center.
Within a few minutes, they were walking along the second floor corridor to the Doctor's classroom, glancing into the rooms as they passed them. Every room looked the same in general layout, but the desk formations and equipment varied from room to room, from a set of throwing wheels to a stage for a live model to stand on. The Doctor's room was the textiles design room, so a couple plain plush mannequins with fabric pinned to them were situated around the room, and colorful posters with runway shots littered the walls.
The Doctor looked up from a rather large book and smiled at Rodie. "Lunch time already?"
They smiled and plunked a lunch bag onto the table next to the book. "Yes, ma'am."
I'm so behind, in everything. Ugh. And this isn't even finished.
