Since Sam and Josh decided to hang out and Kat was off helping her fathers with business in Idris, Matt and Lena decided to take the day and train.
"For being weak you sure can fight still," Matt said as we wrapped up our training session.
"Well, good training counts alot," Lena remarked. We've been here at the New York Institute for a week and alot more people have come through this place. Two shadowhunters by the names of Isabelle and Simon Lightwood cane back after business in Idris along with their three children. The oldest, Katherine who is only a year younger than me seems to be one of the few Shadowhunters from here Lena trusted around here. Jocelyn Garroway, Clary's mother also comes here frequently to visit Samuel, the only grandchild she has. Oddly enough everytime either Matt or Lena come anywhere near her she always seems to want to get away from us."So," Lena sat down next to Matt after she put my weapon away. "Do you miss the Paris Institute?"
"No, not really," he admitted. "The place never seemed like home to me. The only place besides here was London. The only reason for that was because of my adoptive parents, they were the only people who cared." Lena noticed this seemed to bring back bad memories, so she decided to get off the subject of his adoptive parents.
"So do you remember your birth parents?" She finally asked, hoping it wouldn't bring up anything bad.
"Not very much, I was very young" he admitted. "I do remember having a sister, her age was something I can't remember. What about you, do you have any memories of your parents?"
"No, I dont remember them at all. Most of my memories of my childhood are suppressed I've comed to believe " Lena admitted with a sigh. "I have some sort of memories of Isabelle for reasons I can't explain. Then for another unknown reason I feel like I know you, as if you're some long lost person missing from my life."
"Yeah," Matt replied. "I feel the same way about you." At the very moment, Jace and Clary came into the training room.
"Finished training I presume?" Jace asked as he picked up one of the Seraph Blades.
"Yes," Matt and Lena said in unison.
"Good," Clary said. "Because we wanted to tell you about our children."
"Also we wanted to tell you two happy birthday," Jace added.
"Ok." Matt and Lena were thrown off by this, but continued to listen to the two.
"Well," Clary started. "Jace and I have two children, a son and a daughter. We had them fourteen years ago. Unlike our friends, we don't currently have them with us."
"Well, what happened to them?" Lena asked.
"To keep them safe we had to give them up twelve years ago," Clary whispered. "We had hoped they would be happy, but unfortunately one of them is becoming just like my brother."
"What was the point of the story?" Matt aske loudly. Lena decided to remain silent.
"What Clary is trying to tell you is something major," Jace took a deep breath. "You two are Matthew Stephen and Veronica Celine Herondale. More importantly we are your real parents children."
