Sorry for the delay. I lost electronics privileges for a while and haven't been able to get on.
What relationship do Bill and Moody's actors share?
----
During the next day's Defense Against the Dark Arts class, the fourth years were subjected to a rigorous hex-deflection test. It involved the students circling around Moody and hoping they were fast enough to deflect the jinxes he sent at random. Hermione's grades were good enough that she could conceivably block them, but for Harry and Ron, especially Harry, it was incredibly hard to fail convincingly. The one jinx that Harry absolutely refused to let hit him was the Twitchy Ears jinx, which irritated him to no end.
About halfway through the class, Seamus sent four people to the ground with singed eyebrows when he got over enthusiastic with a deflection and caused an explosion. The class looked to Moody in shock, wondering what he was going to do to Seamus. Instead, he turned slightly and jinxed Terry Boot, sending his legs into a jig, with the warning that a fight didn't stop until everyone was down.
Moody got so into the lesson that he didn't notice that the bell rang until Dean pointed it out five minutes later. Moody grudgingly released the class, and the room was emptied faster than it ever had. Some students had been lucky enough to escape with only wiggling ears, but many of them had scratches and scrapes. And while a few complained, most found the experience enlightening and spoke of practicing outside of class.
This gave Harry a thought. Perhaps he didn't have to wait for a terrible Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to start Dumbledore's Army. Perhaps not an actual secret organization, but perhaps he could ask Moody to start a dueling club. It wasn't the ideal situation, due to him not actually being Moody, but when he suggested it to Hermione that night in the common room, she suggested asking Flitwick as well. He was, after all, an accomplished dueller and would be a much better match for Moody than Snape had been for Lockhart. With that in mind, Harry resolved himself to ask after his classes tomorrow.
----
The next day, both Moody and Flitwick agreed to hold a dueling club for anyone third year and up. This excited just about everyone who was able to go, especially those who were struggling with Moody's intense classes. The club wouldn't start meeting for another week or so, which made the current week pass very slowly.
When the first meeting finally came, Flitwick explained they would be split into groups based on their year at first, but would later be split based on skill level. But for now, they just wanted an idea of what they could accomplish at this point, seeing as they only saw them under controlled classroom conditions.
Harry ended up paired against Hermione, which Harry knew would end up interesting. Since Harry became an Auror, he had become a stronger dueller than Hermione, but she was still more accurate and had a larger arsenal at her disposal. He bitterly reminded himself that he needed to appear as an average student right as Moody signaled the start.
Hermione fired the first hex and Harry instinctively threw up a shield and sent his own stunning spell at Hermione, who deflected it easily. He vaguely heard someone scream and the sound of wings, which probably meant Ginny had landed a Bat-Bogey Hex on Zacharias Smith. At that moment, Hermione sent two quick spells at Harry. He blocked the first one, but the second sent him flying backward. He nearly collided with Ron, who was facing Padma but caught himself a step before.
Harry sent a glare at her before casting a body-bind curse her way. She avoided it, but it gave Harry the opportunity to pull himself together before sending a jelly-legs curse her way. This one found its mark and Hermione was soon wobbling in place.
