When We Were Young-1

"Alec Debrev! Where did you hide Mami's keys?!" I cried frantically. After an amazing four years I was now going to work at the most prestigious lawfirm in New York. Gains &... well I was to busy basking in excitement to read the other partner of the firm. At only 25 I had the highest IQ of any lawyer in the tri-state area. Which is why I'm the youngest lawyer in the history of New York.
My baby boy came out with a knowing smile on his face. "Mami," He said sweetly,"You know I love you right?" He batted his long thick eyelashes at me. Even at only four my baby was a heart-breaker. He had silky brown waves, bright blue eye, and a sweet smile.
I narrowed my eyes at Alec placing my hands on my hips,"Alec, what'd you break?" I asked accusingly.
On top of his heart-breaker status, he was quite the trouble-maker. Breaking thing, playing hide and seek with my cases, and let's not forget that time he managed to send the video of me taking down twenty shots of vodka to my entire Blackberry's contact list.
Let's just say all the guys were pretty impressed the next day at work.
"Nothing Mami," He batted his eyelashes innocently again,"It's just that your key's are on the cabinets."
My eyes widened. Aw, c'mon!
"Baby! Mami is 5'4"! Those cabinets are up 6 feet! How is Mami supposed to get up their in her business skirt!" I huffed upset.
He shrugged,"Put on some busy-ness" what he said instead of business,"pants?"
I opened my mouth to argue with him, like I usually do-yeah Im mature-, I actually realized how smart that idea seriously was.
I pulled him in for a hug,"This is why I keep you around."
"No it's because I'm a tax deduction." He grinned.
"What did I say about reading Mami's law books?" I raised a brow at him.
He rolled his big blue eyes,"It's for big people with degrees. Not for little boys with big brains." he recited what I had told him many times I found my little genius reading my old law books. He defiantly got my brain, and not his feeble minded fathers.
Alec understands that his father isn't around and doesn't seem to mind. I even asked him and he gave me a twenty minute lecture(Yes TWENTY minutes) about how he's happy that I'm here to be both his mother and father. I never told him why his father wasn't around, I just told him he never could. Which I'd partly true because Alec Handler couldn't handle being a father making him incapable of being around for our child.
I run into my room ripping off my skirt and through on some tight fitting business pants. I checked the ruffles on my teal blouse and made sure all my jewelry was still in tact. I slipped off my teal and black heals before climbing onto the granite counter top. Being a gymnast since I was two up until the day I got pregnant was really good for balancing at this moment.
After finally getting my car keys I quickly checked the time. 20 minutes until I need to get to work.
Dammit! Where's grandma?! She's supposed to be watching Alec today!
Suddenly lively spirit come busting through my door singing,
"Carnaval!
No ay que llorar!"
Ahh, good old grandma and her Spanish music.
"Bendición abuela." I greet her with a kiss on the cheek.
