Alec
Had I really just agreed to fight for Cole? I must be out of my mind. I sat back in my chair for the rest of my day contemplating all the scenarios that could possibly happen. I could die, Cole could be lying, I could die, I could lose and the deal still be there, and oh yeah, I could fucking die.
I know street fights. It was how I made some fast cash during college before working with Spidey's dad at the firm. After Alicia left, I was happy for a few weeks but soon I spiraled into a pretty dark hole. I started hitting the gym, and took up MMA style fighting. Soon I was getting much to aggressive for sparring matches until a buddy at the gym told me about the matches that were being held at an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. I went often enough to make good money and beat the hell out of guys. I went by Falcon because I was light on my feet like a bird. I'll admit I was a strong fighter but it had been years since I even stepped foot in a gym for sparring. Ever since my last fight, I couldn't look at fighting the same.
I shook my head and was heading out when someone knocked on my door.
"Come in." I called keeping my eyes trained on the door and my hand on the blade I had tapped under my desk. I couldn't trust Cole to not be stupid.
I relaxed when I saw that it was just Alicia. She was off until Monday so I had no idea why she was here.
"Hey, are you okay? What are you doing here?" I asked grabbing my bag and my suit jacket.
Alicia just smiled at me. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just came by to grab some files from my office and thought I'd wait for you."
"You been here long?" I asked, hopeful that she hadn't been here to see Cole.
"I've been here about half an hour." She shrugged her messenger bag higher up on her shoulder. "I kinda missed my office so I sat there and rearranged some things before coming in here."
I gave her an amused look. "You're such a dork. C'mon, lets get home. We got some homemade pesto pasta with our names on it." I put an arm around her shoulder and led her out to the elevator, with a wave at Felicity, who just smirked at us.
Once the elevator doors were closed and we began descending down Alicia suddenly dropped her bag.
I gave her a confused look. "Bag got too heavy? Here I-" I never finished my sentence cause she took a swing at me. I dodged in and dropped my stuff in the process.
"Alicia! What the hell?!" I cried as she went for my face once again.
"You're working with him!" she yelled as she went to kick me in my ribs. I was dodging so many hits and I could see her getting angrier.
"With who?!" I yelled back still dodging her hits. I wasn't about to start hitting her back; I could seriously hurt her.
"COLE!" She roared as she tackled me to the elevator floor.
"What the fuck are you talking about ?" I questioned, trying to get her off me. How could she believe I'm working with that bastard?
"Why else would he be coming out of your office himself?! You bastard! I knew I should've never trusted you!" Alicia landed a blow on my face and that was when I had enough. I shoved her off and quickly stood as she came for another hit. I dodged it and grabbed her forearm. I turned it behind her back and forcefully shoved her against the elevator walls, my grip tight like a vice and keeping her controlled with the uncomfortable angle I had her arm in.
"I'm not working with him Lacy. I made a deal to get you off the hook!" I yelled as she struggled against me.
"Liar!"
"It's the truth! He promised me if I fought in a street fight for him tomorrow and won, he'd forgive your debt and that we would never see him again."
I could feel her breathing slow and her struggling stop slightly. "Alec you can't fight that well. Those street fights end in death."
I chuckled breathily into her face. "You don't know my skill set Alicia. You don't know what I'm capable of anymore."
"I know the fighting you showed me that night will not be enough to win the undergrounds. You will get hurt."
I sighed and let her go. "Alicia, I'm Falcon."
She turned and gave me a bewildered look. "Falcon? The underground fighter? Alec that's impossible. That fighter nearly killed-"
I put up my hand to silence her. "Yes. I know I nearly killed Daunt. That's why I stopped fighting. I left the scene cause I realized I needed a better way to get over my anger. I nearly killed him because I was too angry at myself for letting you leave, and something in me snapped. I thank Spidey for being there and hauling me off Daunt that night."
"I can't believe you're Falcon. You were one of the best street fighters I ever saw."
I narrowed my eyes at her. "You went to those fights? Lacy you had AJ, why the hell were you at those fights?"
Alicia just rolled her eyes at me. "I used to go to them after work and stuff. Just to check out the scene. I watched you fight a few times. I never could've imagined that it was you. Your hair was so long and... you had tattoos all over your back. You didn't look like that before I left."
I chuckled at her. "Yeah, I had a bit of a rebellious phase. After the fighting ended I cut my hair and took up wearing crew necks so that no one saw my tattoos. I've gotten a few more since then but nothing visible if I'm wearing a shirt."
Alicia grinned. "Same."
I raised an eyebrow at her. "You actually got tattoos?"
She nodded. "Down my back I got some wings done with AJ's name down the spine."
I shook my head. "You got wings too? Jesus Christ we really haven't changed."
She laughed and so did I. As soon as the laughter died down Alicia gave me a serious look.
"Alec, are you sure about this? I can deal with these next two weeks." she was nearly pleading with me.
I just shook my head. "Alicia this has to end. I want to see my son again in my own apartment. He's already knows something is wrong. We need to get Cole to leave us alone."
She sighed and began to pick up her stuff. "Fine. But we are taking your ass to the gym tomorrow morning."
I picked up mine too. "Bright and early. I'll see you at six."
She rolled her eyes as the elevator dinged and opened.
As we walked to the parking garage I couldn't help but pray a little that I wouldn't have to give my life so that Alicia's would be easier.
But I knew if I had to, I would.
