Ashton and Leona had left Faye and I standing in the hallway. The Prince's outburst earlier startled me, he was clearly tense but I did not see why he reacted the way he did. But I do hope the Queen gives Calum a stern talking to, or even banishing him from his duties for a while. I do doubt that either would happen.
From my four days in the dungeons the other knights that Calum brought with him appeared to be all brawn and no brain while Calum seemed a mixture of the two. Both were frightening and sent shivers down my spine.
"Are you okay?" Faye's soft voice and gentle hand on my shoulder startled me from my thoughts.
"What? Oh sorry, I was just thinking." I said and ran a hand through my greasy and tangled hair.
"Let us have a look at these rooms aye Luke?" She suggested.
Faye was clearly looking forward to sleeping on the soft and comfortable beds that the castle had. She had told me down in the dungeons that she hadn't had a proper sleep since the day of Ashton's declaration of the ball.
"I will meet you here before we go to the dinner?" She asked.
"Of course." I smiled at her.
"Thank you for today Luke." Faye said.
"I would do it for anyone who is family." I told her.
"But I am not-"
"Yes you are... To me anyway." I interrupted her. "I don't have anyone currently so you are now my sister." I said firmly.
"Okay then brother, I'll see you in a while." She said cheekily and entered her room until the ball. I did the same.
The room was beautiful. Will tall ceiling with intricate carvings around the edges of a crystal chandelier. The bed itself took up a great portion of the room. The walls had gold framed paintings and mirrors. I was completely in awe at the sight. In my family all I had ever known was the simple, rotting, wooden walls of my family's home.
I took a step towards the mirror and you could quite obviously tell that I did not belong in such a fancy place. My face was covered in blood, bruised and dirt, as were my clothes and bare feet.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
I couldn't help but step carefully as to not get the filth on the floor as I walked to the door. As I opened it I saw standing there a team of five servants, they must have been the ones that Ashton had sent.
"Uhhh..." I did not know how to greet them as I had a lower ranking in the scale of things to them.
So I simply opened the door wider and gestured for them to enter. Each of the five servants bowed slightly before entering the room.
"If you could please step up here, sir." One said and pointed to a low stool.
I did as told and the team began to size me for the clothes they must've had elsewhere and would be brought here. They sent me to a bathroom off to the side of mine and ran a nice hot bath for me. The bathtub itself was luxurious, it was as white as snow and had what looked to be solid gold feet.
The whole ordeal took quite some time and once they were finished, I did not recognise myself.
I was dressed in rather fancy clothes that itched and were just plain uncomfortable, as were the thick soled leather boots that I had on my feet. Now, for someone who has rarely ever worn shoes in his life, this was incredibly odd.
"You are the peasant boy that Prince Ashton released from the dungeons are you not?" A servant asked and helped me from the stool.
"Yes I am... How would you know so fast?" I replied.
