L U K E

On the first day that I had spent in the dungeons, I had already succeeded in rubbing my wrists raw, the pale flesh was torn and bleeding. Not only that but where the guard had kicked me was throbbing and quite obviously bruised beneath the thin cloth of my shirt.

Faye was not lying when she said the amount of food they gave us was meagre. The stale bread was thrown towards me blindly and was still a small distance away. But alas with the shackles binding my wrists, I simply could not reach, it was too far off. I had spent a fair amount of time with Faye plotting how to bring the bread closer.

"Use your feet, you could draw it closer that way." The flaming red haired girl suggested.

With a nod in her direction, I manoeuvred myself onto my bruised stomach and flailed my legs around until the bread went skittering across the floor to the edge of the cell.

"Can you reach it?" I asked her after sitting back upright.

I saw her nod faintly in the darkness and her pale hand poked through the bars separating us and wrapped itself around the bread. Bring in her hand back into her cell, she then threw it towards my lap.

"Thank you Faye." I said and smiled at her.

"Any time Luke, I just hope one day that you will repay the favour." She told me.

"Of course."

On the second day the guard who threw me in here stalked into my cell. He appeared beyond mad as he crouched down in front of me.

"Now, thief, what is your name?" he demanded.

"L-Lucifer H-Hem-Hemmings." I stuttered out my response.

I was not sure if I could even call myself a Hemmings but it was the least of my worries.

"Fantastic, now we can have some fun." The evil glint in his eyes had returned, I do not think it left.

His fingers curled into my hair and yanked me upwards causing me to cry out. His fist found itself connecting with my face, blood poured from my nose and I choked out a sob as tears pricked at my eyes.

"Faye!" I cried.

"Sh, don't say anything Luke, it will only make it worse for you." She called from the other side.

"She's right boy, so why not keep your trap shut and let me finish, hm?" The guard snapped and resumed punching and kicking various parts of my body.

On the third day it was even worse than the last, the regular beatings from the head guard - who's name I learned to be Calum - he brought some of the other guards down, they all looked as strong and frightening and Calum.

By the time the light stopped creeping into the dungeons from the gaps in the walls, I was bloodied, battered and bruised and wanted nothin more than to return home to what was my family.

"Go to sleep Luke, I will wake you of they return." Faye said softly.

Before my eyes fluttered shut I could just make out the faint green glimmer of her eyes in the darkness.

-------

My whole family was standing in a tight circle around me. They all looked sad and disappointed in me. Except father, he just looked mad.

"Look at you now Lucifer." Father sneered.

"We told you that stealing was wrong... That you should not lower yourself to those levels..." Mother said softly.

"You aren't my brother anymore." Laurence said as tears gushed down his cheeks.

"Our brother is a thief... That is no good thing to tell our friends about our friends..." Maria added.

"I was proud to call you my brother... But now? You are in a dungeon cell..." Bryce said.

"Who are we supposed to look up to?" Peyton asked.

"What happened Luke...?" Thea asked, her voice soft.

"All you had to do was look after the youngsters..." Arabella said.

"But you can't do that either can you?" Alec snapped.

And last of all stood Lucinda, she looked the most disappointed in me.

"What would Prince Ashton think?" Her head tilted to the side as she asked this.

I wanted to answer everyone of them and tell them that it was not true, that I was not lying on a dungeon floor dreaming after having been brutally beaten by a guard. But I could not, my lips would not move to form the words.

So I stood frozen in place as my family faded into the mist.

-------

I woke with a start, my body jolted upright and my wrists tugged at the shackles as I sat sobbing.

"Luke?" Faye called through the darkness.

"Faye, d-do not l-l-leave me!" I pleaded. "Y-you can n-not leave me..."

I was hysterical, my breathing was shallow and uneven as I cried for my mother.

I was so far gone in my crying that I didn't hear someone come into the dungeon. Too far gone to hear the person and the dungeon guard arguing. Too far gone to notice when my cell was being unlocked...

I only noticed when the shackles were carefully removed from my wrists. I let out a cry of pain as the bloodied metal brushed against the scarred skin of my wrists. I looked up as I rose to my feet in front of the person, Prince Ashton to be exact. He went to speak but I cut him off before the words could be spoken.

"Free Faye." I said firmly.

"What?" He asked.

"Free Faye." I repeated.

"Hello your Majesty." She said and poked her in-between the bars.

"Free her." I told him yet again.

He looked unsure but nodded either way and freed the red haired girl.

"Thank you." She whispered. Without another word she wrapped her arms around me. "I thought you were dead... You can't die on me Luke." She whispered as I hugged her back.

"I won't... I promise... Both of you." I looked up and my eyes met Ashton's hazel ones and it meant a whole lot more than I let on.

Something new and unknown to me flashed between us.

"Let us go, if we are caught then the punishment will be worse." He said coldly and stalked from the cell and along the dimly lit passage towards the stairs.

I guess it was just me...

So there we go I'm proud of this chapter honestly I wrote it on the plane while I was flying back home. If you've ever flown with Air New Zealand (and probably any other airline) then you will know just how UNCOMFORTABLE the seats are. Like srsly we sit here for hours the least you could do is have comfy seats!

Okay that's my rant over lol xD

Peace out Girl Scouts, I'll see you on the flip side!! xx
