If you are not too long, I will wait here for you all my life. ~Oscar Wilde
Ashton's POV
The red mixes with the blue, and you would think it would be purple. But it fades into yellow. Then there is the green besides the tan and they stay separate, refusing to mix. But all that fades into gray. And the gray sections itself off into small squares. Then the gray seems silver. And the silver brings gold. With all that silver and gold brings torment and sadness.
My eyes opened slowly into the dim-lit room. My eyes blinking slowly as I looked around. I felt as if I could not move at first, but I stood up and walked around. Walking out the door as I looked around me. Then there was the bright lit ball-room. Everyone dances, laughing, drinking, and dining while they enjoyed the company.
Looking through the room, I could see the gathering of princesses and peasants, princes and foreigners. I walked through the hall, no one seemed to recognize me, but looked at me with disgust. Looking down at myself I could see my bare feet covered in dirt and the tattered sack-clothing I was wearing.
I walked over to a mirror and could see my reflection in it. I went wide eyed when I looked at myself. Reaching up and touching my face, I was covered in mud and my hair was matted with dirt. I turned around as everyone gasped and in walked a family dressed to the nines. There was so many of them, one of them being Luke.
"L-Luke..?" I mumbled. I knew he would never want to stage an entrance. Then I noticed everyone in the room freeze as I walked over to Luke. Looking at him, I noticed it was a King's crown. Standing, looking saddened to his left was Faye and Griffon. The room faded into a darkness and then on the other side of the room was a casket. Surrounded by flowers, everyone was suddenly dressed in black and mourning.
Everyone began to move as I walked towards the casket. Looking around, no one noticed me. I looked inside and could see my face and felt chills run through my body as I fell backwards. Then the area opened to the sky, and I could see Leona standing in her tattered dress. Her father on her right. As he kicked her stool, and launched her to hang.
I felt my own breath hitch as I heard her choke. "A-Ah.." I scooted away.
Then the room returned to stone, and I looked to see my mother, sitting on the side of the room crying. "M-Mother..?" I stood up and walked over to where she was. Her hands in her hands, no husband, no son. She was alone. I crouched in front of her, placing my hands in my lap. "I am right here. I did not go anywhere."
I stood up and took a step back, looking at her sob. I took a few steps back as she ran from the room. Servants chasing after her, wanting to help her. Then I found myself back in the streets of my village. The people were crying. Saying that they were doomed. That there would be no change. Nothing would get better. That I had abandoned them.
The monarchy was dead.
"I am here, I am here!" I called out to them. "I shall not leaving you!" None of them answered me, they all just walked past me, through me, away from me.
"N-No.." I mumbled. "I am still here.. Please.." I wiped my face as I looked around. I felt so trapped. I then saw the area fade so I was standing in the gardens. I turned around to see Luke laying underneath the tree we had been under after the ball. He was picking at blades of grass. Every now and again wiping his eyes.
"L-Luke.." I mumbled as I crouched next to him. He did not budge. "Can you hear me - " I reached out for him but when I did, my hand just passed through him and I pulled it back. "Am I.. Did I die?" I laid down next to Luke and focused on his eyes. Eventually he sat up, stood up and walked away.
