I had been seated on the catacomb floors with my hands bound behind my back when Ashton walked in. I glared at him so angrily he visibly flinched but came towards me nonetheless. He pulled out a knife as he moved behind me and cut the ropes binding my wrists. My reflexes caused me to snatch the knife from him and send it skittering across the floor.
"W-what are you doing!?" Ashton gasped and as I pushed him to the floor.
"What am I doing!? What are you doing!?" I hissed. "You sent me down here! You betrayed my trust." I snapped and pressed my knee into his stomach as I lent over him. "You have no idea what it is like to be in my position! I am a personal prisoner to the king! I cannot leave this castle, and I cannot leave this room! Because of you and your idiotic manner! Trusting people with little to no care," My face was growing redder and redder as I let the anger over take me. "Everything is useless when you think something else may hold more meaning." I finished.
"C-calm down, Lucifer!" Ashton cried. He managed to push me off and started to get up off the floor. He stood up completely and my breathing stopped briefly in anger as I twitched in rage and glared down at the prince.
"I wish I never met you..."I snarled. What I did next clearly shocked Ashton as his eyes grew as wide as saucers, my hands wrapped around his throat as I pushed him back onto the ground with his arms pinned under my knees. "If Leona wants your land so bad, then she can take it!" I could physically hear the white hot rage pulsing in my ears as my hands constricted around his neck.
Ashton was stuttering out nonsense bellow me and I pushed him further into the floor before cutting him off entirely. "If you say that I can leave, then I will let you go." I spat. He nodded his head and I released his throat from my hands. I stood up and went to move away as Ashton was hacking and coughing but before I could even take a step, his foot swiped my own out from beneath me. I let out a scream of pain as my sliced up back came in contact with the hard floor.
I was dazed, not just from the searing pain in my back, but also the fact that I had my hands around my lovers neck. I sat staring at my hands, I was frightened of what they could do, of what I could do. I rubbed my eyes as tears started to flow. Ashton walked over with the knife in his hands again. "What are you doing?" I asked, he simply held the knife out to me. "I-I do not.. I do not understand..." I stuttered.
"I told you before, and I shall be willing to tell you once more." He paused briefly. "I would rather die than live without you beside me." When he was finished speaking he set the blade down beside me and backed away. "If you are willing to kill me, you may leave on your own."
"Ashton that is legitimately insane." I told him. "It would be murder, and I would never escape anyways."
"If you are going to leave, then I wish for nothing else in this world but to die." He closed his eyes with his head bowed. He appeared to be waiting for me to kill him but I could not do it.
"Get up." I told him. And reached out a hand to help him. "I am the peasant, not you, if anything I should beg to die by your hand." He took my hand and allowed me to pull me up. I let my eyes wander off to the side for a brief moment before asking."Why did you marry Leona?"
"I have yet to do so." He said. "Luke, I feel as if I have very limited options. And when I do, she follows through with her word."
"How do you know this?" I asked. "How do you know she will not betray you in the end?"
"Leona would not." He sighed. "Despite her deceiving ways, she has never told a lie. I have known her for a long time, Luke." But I was still unsure.
