Chapter 21-Nothing Else Mattered
I thought about what Jenna said alot and my mind was already made up when I tried talking to Jason for probably the hundredth time, yet he ignored me also for the hundredth time as well.
"I don't know why I have a bad feeling about this" I said quietly sinking into the passenger seat of Vicky's car.
We were currently heading to meet that old friend we planned on paying a visit about a week earlier. Vicky said that we could worry about Jason later. And she was kinda right, Jason wasn't going anywhere, but Maya was already gone and we didn't even know why. Hell, I don't even think she knew why. And so here we were, me shifting nervously in the passenger's seat while Vicky speeded down the road.
The school day was already over, I already called up Dallas and told her to tell the rest that we'll be late today as me and Vicky are going to hang out with Abby and Noah. She of course bought that, seeing that I barely ever lie and the fact that I kinda am a bad liar. So I was pretty nervous if she'll believe my lie though, thankfully she did, which left both me and Vicky in utter shock.
Of course we weren't heading to Abby and Noah, we were heading rather somewhere else. We've already called up Abby and asked her and Noah to meet up with us there. So I wasn't completely lying when I said that we'll be hanging out with Abby and Noah and maybe that's why I didn't stutter, 'pfft' or even chuckled nervously like Vicky claim I do whenever I'm lying.
The vehicle came to a stop, I took in a deep breath before hopping out of the car and walking side by side with Vicky down the slightly dark and silent alley. When we reached the end of it, we found Abby and Noah standing there. Noah with his hands shoved deep into his pockets while Abby was leaning against the brick wall with her arms crossed.
I suddenly felt my whole body freeze as I stared blankly at that same spot she once lied in begging for mercy, crying and in less than a second was in her own puddle of blood. A hand was placed over my shoulder and I didn't even have to turn to know that it was Vicky. She gave it a tight squeeze before letting go. I glanced at her to find her staring with the same expression as mine at the same spot I was staring at.
"We've already came here before one too many times and we yet couldn't find anything. What makes this time any different?" My head snapped in Abby's direction.
Maybe she was right, what was it that makes this time any different than all them other times?
"Because today's the same day she was killed a few years ago..." Vicky trailed off still gazing at the end of the alley.
"So what? The killer's gonna come here feeling guilty for her death anniversary? " Noah asked with a frown.
It hurt to hear those words, death anniversary, but he had a point.
"We could just wait and see-" Vicky was cut off short by the sound of footsteps coming from the other end of the alley.
"Hide!" Abby said quickly pulling Noah behind a wall, me and Vicky quickly following after.
"Well, that was kinda quick. Maybe we wouldn't have to wait that long after all" Noah said only to earn a smack on the back of his head from Abby.
She gave him a look that shouted 'shut the fuck up'. He rolled his eyes at her, but stayed silent nevertheless. We watched silently and closely as the dark figure walked deeper into the alley and stopped on reaching the wall. Where Maya's blood once splattered over. It was only when they turned their face around to make sure that no one was around, that I felt my whole body freeze as my heart completely stopped beating.
