Chapter 32-Running Out Of Time, But Never Out Of Love
"You didn't come last night" I whispered, fisting his shirt in my hand while looking down.
Even though it was dark in this small room he pulled me in, I could still feel his gaze on me.
"I wanted to. I was on my way, but..." he trailed off and I could already hear the hurt in his voice, the one he tried hiding but obviously failed, or maybe I just became to know him all too well.
"What happened? " I asked softly, placing a hand on his soft cheek.
"The hospital called...Jillian...she..." he couldn't complete the sentence and that worried me even more.
"She's what?" I whispered, afraid to speak any louder.
"She flatlined twice and...at least she's alive for now" he whispered leaning more into my touch.
"I promise you that she's going to be just fine, you're gonna be fine" I whispered caressing his cheek before leaning up on the tips of my toes and brushing my lips over his.
"I just don't wanna lose her" a sob managed to break free past his lips and into mine.
"Don't give up on her just yet...she's a fighter"
We both are.
"But the doctors said that if she doesn't wake up soon, that they'll have to take off the machines because...because they'd assume she slipped into a long coma...one with no hope of return" he said weakly, leaning his body weakly into mine as I held him down to my chest.
"They can't do that without your permission...and you're not giving up on her, we're both not giving up on her" I said running my fingers through his blond hair, hoping to somehow relax him, even for the slightest bit.
"Promise you'll never leave me?"
He whispered taking me completely and utterly off guard, I gulped not answering for a moment, as thoughts of my illness and memories of the million times the doctors looked at me sympathetically saying that I didn't have much time left, ran through my head. I couldn bring myself to make such promise, one that I wasn't sure I'll be able to keep.
"I'll always be here"
I whispered pointing with my finger gently to his heart. That was the only promise I knew at that moment I could keep.
.
"Hey" I whispered, hesitating at first but took her small hand in mine.
Jason went to get something to eat, well at least that's what he told me, I was currently in her hospital bed. Roses were covering every corner of the room along with stuffed animals and 'get well soon' cards. They were all from Jason, Colton, Parker and Jenna before she...yeah.
"You probably don't know me and I'm not even sure if you could hear me either...but your brother really needs you. He might seem all tough and badass at first sight, but..." I cut myself off as a small chuckle escaped my mouth.
"But he's a kid at heart, a huge teddy bear really and I bet you already know that...so I guess you should also know how much he needs you. You mean the world to him and he's my world, which I guess makes you my world as well. So please...fight "
.
With my hands resting on each side of the sink, panting as I found it hard to breathe after throwing my guts out not too long ago. I lifted my head up, looking at my reflection only to be met with a stranger. My face was paler than usual, I was starting to lose weight from not eating. I mean what's the point? I only end up throwing up everything I eat.
