Chapter 25-Never Chose To Fall In Love
With so many questions and thoughts running through my head, I couldn't help but feel nervous. So I resorted to chewing the inside of my cheek as I nervously rub my left arm. For some reason Jason brought me to the hospital. He said he was going to show me instead of telling me what he was hiding. I kind of regret I ever asked to know right now.
He took in a one last deep breath with his eyes tightly closed before reopening them and twisting the doorknob. He slowly pushed open the door, peeking his head inside before slowly taking a step inside. I just stood there infront of the room not really knowing what I should be doing with myself. But when he glanced back at me with that look in his eyes, I knew exactly what I should be doing.
A small gasp escaped past my lips the second I stepped into the room after him. My eyes imidiatelly falling on the little brown haired girl that laid on the hospital's white bed. She looked so pale, so fragile...so broken. Her long brown locks flowing at her sides, leaving her beautiful yet pale face visible.
Jason took slow steps until he reached the side of the bed. He reached his hand down to touch hers, but seemed to hesitate for a second before finally taking her small hand in his. And that was probably the first time I ever saw Jason's eyes get watery. That imidiatelly snapped something inside of me and I quickly made my way towards his side.
He was now sitting on a chair by the bed, I made my way to sit on the chair next to his but he took me completely off guard, when he gently grabbed my wrist and pulled me down to sit on his lap. That was the day I first saw a side of Jason I never thought existed. That was the day I witnessed a vulnerable Jason, fighting back the tears in his pained eyes. That was also the day I realised that he needed me by his side probably as much as I needed him by mine.
That was the night I needed him to know that he doesn't have to put up a front with me and to just cry and let everything out. That was the day he finally let down his walls and cried into my chest as I wrapped my arms around him for dear life, holding him like he held me before. And finally...that was the day I realised that there was way too many secrets to Jason than I probably ever thought.
To me I always found him a mystery, maybe a mystery but he looked like any normal other teenager to me. But the second I took a better looking his eyes, I saw myself, I saw that look that had been haunting me for so long. I saw the fear of losing someone, I saw the agony of already losing someone and the confusion mixed with anger as to why? That had always been the question that I don't think neither of us will ever get the answer to. Why...
Why we lost who we lost, why we're still destined to lose more of those we love, why we let someone break down our walls and let them in so easily, why the fear of our hearts being in someone else's hands creep it's way inside of us, why we let that person hold our heart and wait in fear for them to either let it fall or hold onto it, why we can't just ignore our hearts and for once follow our minds without the 'what if's' that comes after, why we let ourselves fall...fall in love.
So there I sat with him in my arms telling me how it all started and how it all ended. Seeing him this broken, I wished if I never asked, but then again maybe he needed to finally let it all out. He needed a shoulder to cry on and a whisper to tell that everything was going to be alright. Maybe all we both needed was each other after all. And I was more than willing to stay as long as I can to somehow try and heal him.
That was the day I realised two very important things. One being that this was our very first Christmas together and maybe even the last. Two being...that I really do love him more than I probably should.
I listened, I listened to every word and I somehow felt like I was reliving it all with him. I was living his memories and feeling his pain...
The world could be a nasty place. How a beautiful, fragile little girl could be dragged down into a dark world. Jason told me how his family were coming back home from some carnival they went to. He told me how he didn't want to go and stayed back home instead. He also told me how out of completely nowhere a vehicle appeared infront of his family's car, coming from the opposite direction. He also told me...
