An Era Of Zombies

Part 10: Dangers of the Forsaken Rocks

Darcy's tent was about the same size as Asia's. But since Darcy didn't share a tent there was just a little extra room now that there wasn't a second sleeping bag inside. They didn't sit down just yet.

"So what are we going to do now?" Asia asked.

"Asia, you know how to hunt?" Darcy suggested and picked up a blade.

"Yeah, I do know." She crossed her arms. "Let's go hunting."

"Sonnet, you in?" Asia and Darcy turned towards Sonnet who looked a little uncomfortable but she didn't back out.

"We're supposed to be checking the defenses," she answered.

"We'll be back soon. I just need a little action." Darcy put on her jacket and quickly tied her hair into a ponytail.

"Okay, let's go hunting then," Sonnet relented. "I prefer the crossbow. We might have to sneak into the weapons tent. Asia?"

"I didn't really have a variety of weapons while on my own." She shrugged. I don't really know what my signature weapon is.

"I suppose you would be good with a bow. Your arms are long enough and you have strong muscles. There's a really nice one in the weapons room. I keep a blade in my tent, it's my special weapon. Let's get going girls." And with that they made their way to tent D, the weapons tent. No one was in there so they grabbed their weapons and left quickly.

Wait a second. "So what are we hunting exactly? " Asia asked. She had only taken up Darcy's idea because she wanted to show that she was tough.

"Zombies. " Darcy didn't even look scared. "We won't go far, we'll just scan the Forsaken Rocks."

Sonnet stopped dead in her tracks. "Darcy, that's not a good idea. The Forsaken Rocks are infested with zombies. We could get killed or even scratched."

"Sonnet, we'll be okay. We won't go in it. We'll be within 3 miles. Trust me Sony. Do you trust me Asia?"

"No. But I trust that I can get us out with our ass still attached. "

Darcy gave her a smile and she thought she heard Sonnet give a laugh.

"So what is the Forsaken Rocks anyways?" Asia wondered.

"It's a valley that has very high traces of zomtoxin in the ground. It attracts zombies like moths to light," Sonnet answered her.

They kept moving. They finally stopped once Darcy stopped.

"Why did we-" but then Darcy brought a finger to Sonnet's lips and then they heard the sound of twigs breaking. She nocked her bow and pulled her arm back. The zombie was standing maybe a yard away. The zombie looked her age, maybe older. It had rouge cropped hair that matched those evil eyes. She released her hand but the arrow just nicked it's cheek.

The zombie advanced on her and Darcy attacked from the side, stabbing the zombie. It should have fallen but the zombie just looked angry and pushed Darcy into the side of a tree. Darcy fell with a sickening crunch but Asia could see that she was still breathing. Sonnet shot the zombie in the arm with her crossbow and again it didn't fall.

The zombie moved with superhuman speed and twisted her arm behind her back. Sonnet screamed and jacknifed. Asia shot another arrow but missed entirely this time. The zombie was against her body instantly and she grunted. Her arms were pinned against the tree and she was stuck. Sonnet was was also unconscious.

"I'll take pleasure in turning you into a zombie," it whispered into her ears.

Asia felt his fingers tracing her jawline. She felt very uncomfortable and when she leaned forward, he pushed her back hard.

"You can't turn me," Asia said.

"Whyever not ?"

"Because you can't," she hissed, "I'm immune to zomtoxin. "

"Oh yes. Asia Slade. Well we mutated the zomtoxin. We are going to rain it onto Earth. No one can be immune to this. Just touching it will turn you. If I were to scratch you then I believe that you would turn. But alas, my Lady has told me to bring you to her."

"Alas? My lady? We're in the 21st century. And how'd you know my name?"

"I know it because Lady Lucien told me. I-" but the he was cut off. Literally cut off. The zombies head fell to the ground. The body would put the head back on in 12 hours though since zombies can't really die. She looked up.

It was Will with his blade. She could see that he was breathing hard.

"I know we shouldn't have-" but they she was in his arms

She was so comfortable and she didn't want to let go. She realized then that she loved him.

Asia's arm throbbed bit she could barely feel it anymore. Will.

"If anything had happened to you,"he said and looked at her.

"Well, I'm still alive."

"That was one of the most stupid ideas ever. I know you were bored but zombie hunting? "

"Darcy's idea. She has good intentions, bad ideas"

Then Asia remembered Sonnet and Darcy were still unconscious.
Asia checked Darcy's pulse. It was just a little above average. Sonnet's was average. But the fall had gave her a little knock out. Sonnet was frail and shy. She wasn't a warrior.

"They're okay. But how are we gonna get them back?"

"I don't know. Let's just kick them awake and drag them."
