Asia tripped over a rock. She was in the woods and she was running away from someone, well something. She didn't count zombies as people. Asia hurried back up but then she was grabbed by the arm. She looked over her shoulder and saw it's face. Curling black-brown hair, bright red eyes, and pale white as snow skin. "Hello Asia," it said and Will made a long scratch on her arm. It stung and Asia began to feel lightheaded. And then Asia felt it. She had turned. It should have been impossible but she could feel it. The hunger in her blood and the way her heart beat as if it were a bomb, inhumanly fast. Will gave her a dark smile, "You're mine now."
Asia awoke from her dream with a start. She sat straight up and almost forgot where she was. Will, who had been laying beside her looked up at her. "Asia? What's wrong?" And then he sat up and looked worriedly at Asia. She kept seeing his face in her mind, the one with the red eyes and sheet white skin. She scooted back a bit on the mattress, away from him. "Just a bad dream," she told him, "It's nothing."
"What was it about?"
Asia felt a little uncomfortable. It was only a dream Asia. Will is not a zombie, stop acting like a child. But, don't dreams have a meaning? Is my mind trying to warn me about something?
"You know what? I don't even remember," she lied smoothly.
He didn't look convinced but then Asia stood up before he could ask anything else. "We should go back. I didn't tell Sonnet I'd be with you so she might be worried." And then she turned away and began walking out, but then Will caught her arm. She hadn't even heard him get up. "Asia, you trust me don't you?" He asked. Do I even know the answer to that?
"Of course I do. Don't you trust me?" He looked at her for a moment and then said," Yes, I trust you. I hope you can trust me."
Then Asia left the cave. It was probably around 6 in the morning. The sun hadn't set yet and so it wasn't completely bright. There was a slightly cold breeze. Asia realized that she had left her jacket back in the tent and went back to fetch it. Will was standing up now, inside. His shirt was off and she was able to see the skin beneath.
He had very large muscles and many scars. His skin was very pale. But what caught her attention was the injury on his shoulder. It wasn't really an injury but it was a dark red x. Where could he have gotten that from?
Will turned around and noticed her.
"I'm sorry, I'd just left my jacket here?" Asia hurriedly picked it up, but not so hurriedly that he'd know something was up.
"Is something wrong Asia? And don't lie to me," he said. He was still shirtless as he looked at her.
"Nothings wrong Will. I'm just a little shaken up for some reason. Maybe because of yesterday. I was attacked by a zombie," she defended.
He didn't say anything as she left.
Sonnet wasn't in their tent when Asia arrived. She decided to check the medical tent. Darcy was in there still. She was talking with Darcy on a bench. Sonnet was wearing a pretty blue and white striped casual dress. It looked like something that was worn in the country. Her glasses were still on and her hair was up in a ponytail.
"...ask me any more questions," Darcy was saying, as Asia neared.
"Feeling any better Darcy?" Asia asked. Darcy certainly looked better. Although she was still wearing the brown top and black leather jacket from yesterday, her pre-ripped jeans dirty and her hair a mess, she still seemed to look beautiful. Darcy was just one of those girls who seemed to always look good.
"Yes, I am," she said.
"How much longer are you going to be in here?" Asia asked.
"Well, the Dr.Ashton had insisted that I could've gone back to my tent last night but I wanted to stay here," she answered, "Plus Wade stayed with me all night."
"Where is he now?" She asked looking around, it was still early and most of the others were asleep on their cots.
"Oh Wade went to talk to his mother," Sonnet replied.
"Do-" Sonnet began to say but was cut off by a shriek from outside. They all rushed outside to see what had happened.
There were already quite a few others who had gone to the entrance to the valley to see what had caused the commotion. There was a woman standing in the entrance, she was definitely human and her hand was over her mouth as she looked down at the body. It was a young boy, probably around 14. He was dead and there was a knife stuck in his shoulder blade. Sonnet nearly vomited at the sight. Darcy looked horrified also. Janelle had finally arrived with Silas in tow. Asia had expected Janelle to burst into tears but she knew Janelle was made of stronger stuff. She kept her calm and walked up to the body, the people cleared a path for their leader.
Janelle bent down and examined him. She softly pulled the knife out and they saw that there was a note attached. Janelle read it and quickly tucked it in her pocket and turned to address the crowd. "Carter Davis is dead. We will have a short funeral later on tonight and then discuss our next course of action tomorrow morning. Any family members of Carter can come up to me and speak with me. My condolences." Janelle's voice had cracked and she turned to walk away towards Silas after instructing the closest two men to move the body. Asia saw her bury her face in Silas's chest and he held her as she wept.
"Oh my," Sonnet gasped.
"Come on guys," Darcy said and began walking back towards her tent. Asia could see the fury in her eyes. It was obviously a zombie who'd done it. But why?
