Lucien led Sonnet to a room somewhere in the fortress. She wondered what was happening to Wade and Darcy, would she ever see them again?
"First things first, I'm going to unlock your memories," Lucien said. Unlock my memories? Before Sonnet could ask her to explain, Lucien had moved inhumanly fast and put her hand on Sonnet's forehead and when Lucien lifted her hand away there was a small microchip in her hand. Sonnet was confused for a moment and then she saw flashes of her past, her true past.
Sonnet was talking with her mother, Lucien. She was wearing a clean nice blue blouse and white jeans. Lucien was wearing a grey day dress and black leggings. "So let's go over the plan again, I go in to Camp Resilient, and be the spy?"
"Yes, any information you can find on Asia Slade or just news if the humans are developing an antidote," her mother said.
"What if there are humans beside the ones in Camp Resilient trying to create an antidote?"
"It's the most well known one, and if my information is correct, Asia grew up somewhere in what was once Los Angeles."
"Why must you wipe my memory?" Sonnet asked again. Well, her mother wasn't really wiping her memory, she was replacing it with a fake memory.
"It's easier to keep a secret when you don't know the secret," her mother replied.
"I'll be careful mom," she said, "What memory are you even going to give me?"
"Something about you being a movie star's daughter. Fun right?"
"What about Katelynn?" she asked softly. Katelynn was Sonnet's twin, she was sleeping right now still. Katelynn was so different from Sonnet though. Where Sonnet had chosen to go along with their mothers plan about the zombies, Katelynn had refused to go along with it and had ran away a very long time ago when they were both 12 to be exact, god knows where she is now.
"What about her?"
"If our plan succeeds, won't Katelynn become a zombie too then?" Sonnet asked. Lucien had commanded the zombies not turn Katelynn if she was ever spotted but she hadn't. Either Kate was dead, had been turned and not reported, or was very good at hiding.
"I don't particularly care anymore, she should've stayed then. But I did include her in your fake memory."
"Okay, thank you mom." She'd never forgotten her beloved twin, much less stopped missing her. Kate was her twin, she was like Sonnet's other half.
"You will be keeping your first name Sonnet but instead of being Sonnet Haththorne, you'll be Sonnet Delanore.
"Okay."
"Are you ready honey?" Lucien asked and in her right hand she held a little microchip, it held Sonnet Delanore's memories.
"Yes."
"I'll give you a sleeping injection first and then I'll insert your new memories. You'll wake up near Fort Resilient and you should be accepted in." Lucien had decided to never turn Sonnet into a zombie for this reason, so that she'd be able to be a spy for Lucien and pass as human.
"I love you mom," Sonnet said as Lucien injected her with the sleeping injection. She could feel her eyelids closing and getting sleepy.
"Love you too my daughter," Lucien whispered and caught Sonnet as she fell.
Sonnet almost feinted again as more memories flowed in. Memories of Katelynn, memories of playing with Asia Slade, her cousin, when they were babies, and memories of her mother human because Sonnet had been born about a month before Lucien was injected by Malcolm, her uncle.
"My life's a lie?" Sonnet gasped.
"Yes, what I've showed you is the truth," Lucien answered gently.
"Show me proof, what you've showed me could've been another lie," Sonnet cried out, she wanted it to be a lie. Because though Sonnet had been entirely loyal before entering the camp, things were different now. She could feel Sonnet Hawthorne fighting Sonnet Delanore.
"You are right, it could've been a lie and you really shouldn't trust me, but I am not lying Sonnet, my dove. You are my daughter and my legacy. And you know there have always been gaps in your life like what were you really doing the day you found the camp."
She had never been able to remember that day completely, but she should've, that day was important. Then Sonnet remembered all the other gaps in her memory like her parent's birthdays.
"Now, the question is no longer if you believe me or not but, what you choose to do. So Sonnet, will you defy me or follow me?"
"You are my mother, I will follow you, because I love you."
Lucien smiled and the two embraced. Sonnet was a whirlwind of conflicted feelings, Lucien her anchor.

Asia froze. Did she believe Sonnet or not. Lucien could've lied to Sonnet, but the way Sonnet had said it was so confident. She would've made sure Lucien was telling the truth. So Sonnet was her cousin then.
"Sonnet?" It was Ford, his voice barely above a whisper. He looked so sad and disappointed, Asia realized that he was feeling like Asia had when she'd found out Will was a zombie. Sonnet wasn't looking at him either. She seemed to be avoiding everyone's gaze.
"Ford, it's true." Sonnet finally looked Ford directly in the eyes, "My mother is not lying and neither am I. I am Sonnet Hawhtorne, the name Delanore is a lie."
The tension between the two of them were so tense and private, Asia wanted to look away. "I don't care what your name is, but I care about you Sonnet. Because I love you, and I want to be with you."
Sonnet's eyes were cold and unfeeling as ice, "I did not love you. It was a lie Ford. I am my mother's spy and her ultimate weapon."
"This isn't you Sonnet," Ford said.
"You do not know the real me Ford."
"I will face every zombie on Earth unarmed just to get to you Sonnet Delanore, and I refuse to die without even trying to save you."
Asia looked to Sonnet, she thought she saw something change in her eyes, but it was too quick for Asia to tell if it had ever been there. She opened her mouth to speak, "What now Lucien?"
"Now Asia, you hand your-selves over to me and I take over the world."
"That's not a very good offer is it now." She kept her gun pointed at Lucien. What would they do now, she'd run out of tricks. They were truly doomed, how would they get out now.
"Well, you're not in any position to make any offers."
Lucien put her finger on the trigger, Think fast Slade, what are you going to do now. You brought your friends here, now it's your job to bring them back out. For Darcy, Ford, Wade, Sonnet, and Will.
"Stop!" Asia shouted, "I'll give up myself if that means my friends can leave."
Lucien seemed to consider it, "Hmm, valiant attempt but no."
Asia had tried, and she wasn't giving up yet. Then she saw Wade pull something out of his pocket, he mouthed something to Asia. She smiled, "I'd like to say something first."
"Make it quick," Lucien said.
"Bomb." Then Wade threw the little disk in his hand which Asia had recognized as a bomb and threw it. Darcy and Wade managed to break free of the zombies hold in their shock and they all began running outside. Then the whole room and part of the hallway exploded into a shower of sparks and rubble.
