She had woken up to find him standing in the entrance. Sonnet was laying nearby and she gently rose to follow him outside.
"Hi Will."
"I just wanted to give you these back," he said and held up the diary and books that she had left in the woods.
"Oh, thanks Will but did you have to tell me so early?" It was actually 7 am. She would have woken up in a few minutes anyways. Asia went to him and took the books from him.
"I just wanted to give you these before I forgot," he answered.
"Thank you Will. But when did you go to the woods to get these?" They had gotten back really late and she hadn't seen him take these when Asia was with him yesterday.
"I went back this morning."
Asia came over and gave him a kiss on his lips. It wasn't very passionate or strong as she had hoped though. He had kissed her back but it was like he didn't want to.
"Are you okay Will?" Are we okay?
"Yeah, I'm good. I'll see you later Asia." And then he walked away.
What was that?
Sonnet was awake inside. She yawned.
"Hi Asia. When did you wake up?"
"I just woke up."
"Who were you talking to? I heard voices," Sonnet prodded in a curious way.
"It was just Will. We were just talking."
"You seem down."
"He was just acting really weird."
"That's Will," Sonnet sighed and put her glasses on.
"So what do you usually do around here?" Asia asked. Do they plan to take down the zombies?
"Well, we only scout on Wednesdays & Thursdays. And on Fridays we raid abandoned places like the superstore you & Will scouted before. But, I guess we don't really do much except survive," Sonnet said with a shrug.
"Do you ever think about taking down the zombie legions?" she asked Sonnet. "Or an antidote?"
"We don't plan to take down the zombie legion. It'd be a suicide. The dead outnumber the living. There's only 50 or so of us and thousands of them. We do try to find an antidote though. We haven't had any luck yet," she explained. "I'm actually one of our leading technicians and scientists."
"You seem really smart Sonnet. I'm not surprised. Wait, today's Thursday," Asia replied.
"I stay behind but you might want to check in with Janelle first. I think that Dr. Ashton had wanted to see you," she said.
Asia just brushed her hair and teeth quickly before going to find Janelle. Janelle was in the wooden hut - the main headquarters kind of. She was talking to a man who was probably her husband. He had dark ginger hair and dark green eyes.
"Hi Janelle," she greeted once they had stopped talking and noticed her.
"Hi Asia, this is my husband Silas," Janelle said.
"Silas Gray, pleasure to meet you Miss Slade," he replied. Asia shook his hands said hello and turned back to Janelle.
"I was wondering if I could go scouting today?" she asked.
"I'm afraid that you'll be staying here today. Dr. Ashton wants to take some more blood samples and try to figure out what makes you immune. Will can just go alone today. He usually does. When you're done with the doctor you can hang out with Sonnet. Darcy is staying back here today also," Janelle answered.
"Okay thanks Janelle. I'll head to Dr. Ashton," she responded.
Dr. Ashton was inside the tent. "Hello Miss. Slade. I was hoping you wouldn't mind giving me a few extra blood samples to examine."
"Oh, sure. I would like to know what this is myself that makes me immune. Do you have any ideas?"
"Well, the best answer I can come up with is that you have an increased amount of Vitallien, this is also why tour eyes have purple, cause of the Vitallien. It is like a repellent of the Zomtoxin. Humans are usually born with a very low chance of having even a drop of it. But you seem to have a very large amount of it," he told her. Asia wondered how she had gotten the Vitallien in the first place since it was so rare. Asia let him fill up 3 tiny tubes with her blood and then he let her leave. She found Sonnet walking and talking with Darcy. Asia waved over and then walked over to join them.
"Hey Asia," Sonnet greeted her.
"Hi Sonnet, hi Darcy."
"Hi Asia," Darcy replied.
"We're just heading back to my tent. Come with us," Darcy was saying.
"Sure. I don't know what to do anyways," Asia told her.
"We were just talking about Ford," Darcy piped.
"Darcy! Can we please not talk about Ford?" Sonnet said as she looked over her shoulders to see if anyone had heard.
"I can't believe you have a crush on my brother."
"I can't believe you like Wade," Sonnet retorted.
"You like Wade?" Asia blurted.
"I think he's a nice guy," Darcy replied. "I don't think he likes me though. I think he likes Ava. "
"Who's Ava?" Asia asked.
"She's this really smart girl. She is smart, nice, and beautiful but she gets on my nerves. Ava is just too nice. She agrees with everything people say and isn't interesting at all." Darcy explained.
"So why would Wade like her?" Asia asked.
"He's smart, nice, handsome, and more. He & Ava just look perfect for each other besides the fact that she's so boring. And the way she looks at him..." Darcy trailed off.
They had finally arrived at the tent. Asia followed the other 2 girls inside.
