(Oma's POV)
I watched outside as the green trees thrashed through the warm wind. It was raining down hard, in the middle of the summer. I looked outside wondering what the guys might be doing today. Sitting next to the window and watching the grey clouds cry. The only time it rained the most this summer. Looking outside the blurry window made me sad. I check my phone and haven't received anything yet. I placed it back on the nightstand and look back outside. Seeing very little of cars pass by the flood of water on the streets.
It was still hot and humid today, but the water was cold. I looked up the window to the sky. And moved from the sky to the ceiling. And from there my bed. I walk up and flop down on it. I reach for a magazine from the little library in front of my bed. It was about the old news, and weather. I put it back and traded it with a random book. I started to read it and noticed it was given to me from Jayden.
I threw it across the room and covered myself with sheets. How much I wanted to talk to her but vowed to stay away from her in the time being. I hear a sudden ding and looked to check.
~~~
Danny:is it raining?
~~~He texted. I texted back "no" since I knew he wasn't talking about the weather. It's an obvious detail for an idiot.
~~~
Danny:Me and Saffe were thinking of going to her soccer tomorrow practice. You going?Oma:Maybe
~~~And from that there was no reply but a read. I lay back down on my bed and thought about it more. What if Jayden were to be there? Would they even play me like that . . . ?
I pull away from thinking and go make myself a cone. I walk downstairs and see Koah eating chocolate ice-cream from the tub.
"What the hell Koah, at least share!" I yell angrily.
"Go get a spoon." He retorted annoyingly.
I walk to the kitchen and grab a big spoon. I walk to him and grab a handful with it.
"Damn, no need for your spoon." He laughs as he sees me struggle to scoop it out and try to eat it.
We sit there and watch TV shows and movies that would pop up randomly. We would point out who reminds us most about each other from the characters. Later from that we fell asleep with The tub on Kao's stomach plus my weight. Smeared with chocolate all over our face and wake up cold in the morning.
~~~
A sudden shook woke us by Kaoh's phone going off.
"Get off! Your he heavy!" He yells and pushed me off the sofa and falling on the floor. He moved the tub of ice-cream on the COFFE table and answers his phone.
"Hello?" He says still trying to wake up. He nodded a few times before he ended the call.
"Shit . . . help clean this up I don't even know how chocolate got all over the place!" He stumbled to his feet and grabs paper towels from the kitchen.
The first time he ever cared about a mess. But I helped anyways. A few minutes later we were done. Koah looks at me, like if he were to mug me. He grabbed a paper towel and wiped my face clean.
"I don't even know how." He said shaking his head at me. "Anyways, mom is coming home, dad and aunt went to Casy's house." He finished.
"So far away . . . " I said looking back at the door. Father is always out with Aunt lately.
And speaking of which, we heard a sudden knock. We thought it might have been mom, but Koah thought it wasn't her since she came to early. Koah tiptoes to the door and looks through the hole. He lets go a sigh and opens the door. He pulls out a package and closes the door. I peek inside one of the holes that were punched in as Koah cuts the tape with his keys.
"What the hell is this?!" He yelled scared by what he saw.
Baby kittens in the box. How convenient. . . giving someone randomly a responsibility. I grab a kitten as it meows and purrs. I look at Koah shaking his head saying "what will we tell mom" or "what can we do".
The first thing I did was take an old baby bottle and poured water. I started to feed the kittens one by one and Koah panicked and didn't help at all.
"We should call mom about this. I can ask my friends if they could adopt one. I know Saffe always wanted one, maybe she'll take some." I claim.
"We can't, how old are they even?!" He panicked more making the kittens scatter throughout the room.
The kittens were able to walk, jump and there eyes were open. I know that they were older than a couple weeks. They look like they were in good shape, but how am I supposed to tell.
Koah sighs heavily and groans. "You okay?" I ask.
"Don't mind that. Let's go make something for them." He smiles and catches the cats from the room and place them in the box.
We got old blankets and a large cardboard box. We make a bed and place a blanket to make half a roof on the box. The kittens were moving all over the place. They go under Koah's bed and in the closet.
What a big responsibility this is going to be. But it's better than keeping them out on the streets. Poor kittens . . .
Moments later, a door opens downstairs. We walk down with some kittens in our hands and the rest following us. We look over and our mother was home. Shook from the sight of baby kittens all over us.
"What in havens is going?! Why are there cats?!" She yells.
"Can we keep them, please . . ." Koah and I beg.
Mother rolled her eyes and say, "It's a big responsibility. You understand that right?"
We nod our heads and she walks upstairs to her room. I look at Koah and see him smiling and plying with the kittens.
~~~
I check my phone and see only one message. That message was from Jayden.
~~~
Jayden:Do you still want to be friends?
~~~Right then and there I could feel tears down my checks.
~~~
Oma:I'll think about it
~~~How fast I regretted to text her that. I felt bad by getting mad at her in the first place. It's my fault,
~~~
Oma:I'll meet you guys at Saffe's practice. I have a surprise to show you guys to
~~~I reply lastly and end the conversation at that. I look outside the window again and see it was raining, but it was more calm. I sigh heavily and plop down on my bed. Some kittens snaked through the door and climb on my bed. They stay there next to me, keeping me and themselves warm. The night turned cold and bitter. And how bitter I was . . .
~~~~~~~~
AN:Will they ever be friends again?!?! I can't say. But we'll see in the next chapter!!!
